wpeldios
It is a deep defensive draft class. Thats why I still want defense in the first.
Dadraftnick
Weatherspoon, Paul-Pierre, Daryl Washington, Moats all look good. Gerald McCoy looks great. Odrick looked good as well.Jason Pierre-Paul is what I like to call a SUSPECT, not a prospect, a guy teams SUSPECT that they may be able to turn him into a football player SOMEDAY.He has nice size and he is fast but, he reminds me of the guy that I had as last year's SUSPECT Robert Ayers.Ayers was the Denver Bronco's 1st round pick(18overall) , NFL Network's Mike Mayock had him listed as the #1 DE in the draft.- I had him listed as un-draftableAyers had 14 tackles in 15 games ,0 sacks 0 tfl last year for the Broncos- I wouldnt have taken the guy in the 12th round on a bet.- I said the same thing about Robert Geathers before he was drafted.Jason Pierre-Paul is athletic but, he put up 45 tackles,16.5 tkl for loss and 6.5 sacks, there must be 30 guys in the draft with better stats than that.- he has only played D1 football for 1 year.I am not saying the guy has no chance, I am saying he has done NOTHING to deserve a 1st round ranking. It seems like every year the scouts OVER-RATE the hell out a guy like Pierre-Paul or Ayers based on nothing the guy has done on the footabll field.I guess they think that they will look smart if the guy pans out .You are much more likely to get production out of a guy that is a little small or slow but put up great stats than you are a guy that has done nothing but, has good workout numbers.I remember pimping Elvis Dumerville midway through his senior college season- if anyone knows how to look up the posts do it- he lasted until the 4th round but, he is one of the guys that I am talking about, a little small but had done it on the field BEFORE he was drafted. My comment was solely based on seeing the combine coverage. He moved extremely well, looked powerful. thats it.I would take him in r3 but no higher. just too much unknown and at risk. Dadraftnick
I wasnt knocking your post, I agree Pierre-Paul is athletic and had a nice workout.I just think he is this year's SUSPECT and I just had point it out.I am not even saying cant be good SOMEDAY (although I doubt it),I am saying he has done NOTHING to merit a 1st round pick. Yes he is small like Dummerville but, he can play and Texas Tech has produced alot of DE's in recent years that were highly underated. If Bengals draft this guy I am damn happy, I would much rather have this guy than Pierre-Paul.I would much rather have Sharppe than most of the DE's in the draft. He needs to add some weight and he could be a guy just rushes the passer or plays in a 3-4 but he can play. Stripes
Thousands of people liked Dumerville, and plenty of them post on this message board. Just stop it.
