Fan from afar
According to Mike Florio of PFT, NFL teams can start trimming players off their roster.([color=#483D8B]http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/02/08/offseason-cuts-to-begin-today/) As a new member to this forum, I am not sure how many of you feel regarding the Bengals roster of '09-'10, but to get the ball rolling, who do you think the Bengals should cut? (It doesn't mean that these cuts will happen, or are financially feasible, but ones that would help make the team better) Here is my initial list:1) L. Coles: drops, drops, drops2) D. Coats: see Coles 3) M. Trent: as shown by playtime, cannot cover 4) J. Simpson: shouldn't take over two years to learn playbook5) O. Harris: no wonder noone else wanted him

Also i think we can get rid of lj sadly... Dude looked awseome in stripes
redsbengalsbucks
Gotta keep Trent, he is the third CB on the team. An upgrade wouldnt be a bad idea, but he is solid depth. Simpson should be held onto unitl he proves he has not gained anything in the offseason, again. The others bye-bye.
ShulaSteakhouse
I'd rather see Trent get some time at Safety and have them draft or sign a better nickel CB. I also hope Williams comes back and is healthy, but they seem to be set on letting him go from everyone's predictions.A quality TE and G seem to be more pressing needs, as is another big/fast WR. walzav29
http://www.footballsfuture.com/2010/fa/dl.htmlAaron Kampman would be a perfect fit for us. I hope Tank is re-signed. Ben Watson could be interesting, and to me the best FA WR is Steve Breaston.
JoePong
Breaston is a restricted FA so don't even bother thinking about him. You really think the cards are going to let him go, especially if they get rid of Boldin?

Harris: no wonder noone else wanted himColes sucks,Coats sucks,Simpson has not had a chance so, none of us know,Orien Harris? what do you expect out of what amounts to the #6 DT because, guys like Feanae and Rucker both played DT at times.I have to to say that Morgan Trent did one hell of a job as a 3# CB go back over your games and notice how many passes he smacked away.Trent also, made some plays in special teams. It would be nice if he were to intercept some of those passes but , this guy did a nice job of knowing his role and playing it well.A couple of years ago, the Bengals were talking about the draft and they said that they didnt want to "get too cute" and trade down. The reason that teams like Dallas and the Patriots can have a good team for a long time ,even though they are picking from the bottom of the draft,is that they trade down and pick up extra picks.Think about it, instead of getting 7 draft choices you get lets say 10 or 12 picks, most of the time these guys are still getting the guys that have targeted but, they are also picking up the extra picks. Those extra picks go to fill out the roster with depth. One of the problens that Bengals have had in the last several years is ,at the end of the year injuries catch up with them and they dont have the quality back ups to replace the starters that went down.Trading down in the draft is almost always a smart thing to do it enables you to fill more holes in your roster and it increases your chances of finding a quality starter in the draft. Been saying that for years. Last time I think they did that was in 2004 when they kept dropping down and got Chris Perry. I think the end result was Stacy Andrews in the 4th round. I thought Trent looked great this year. The Steelers website posted a video breaking down one of the losses to the Bengals this season and both commentators agreed that Trent was one of the biggest reasons the Bengals won that game. As Kaz said, he might not have played lights out all season and had some breakdowns, but so did Hall and JJoe during their rookies seasons. I'm telling you right now that Trent would be a starter on about seven or eight teams, and I could see him developing into something great. That we got any meaningful production out of him in his first yr is a bonus. He's a 6th rnd pick and so obviously he'll have flaws, a couple of them rather glaring. He is by no means hopeless though and another yr or two and we might just have ourselves a very decent nickel back. Or we might not. Far too early to cut bait though. Getting burnt repeatedly is not what I consider average or good coverage. Guess we'll find out if he improves (if given the chance) in his second year. Jerome has not fulfilled expectations on this team; money has nothing to do with it; talent and contributions to the team is what I consider on my list. wpeldios
Trent had a very good year for a 2nd day rookie cb. Some of these positions take time to develop. Trent showed alot of ability this year. I am honestly comfortable with him next year.
JoePong
These people who are criticizing Morgan Trent probably wanted us to cut Leon Hall after his rookie season. This is just stupid. Even corners who are high 1st round draft picks struggle as rookies and get burned quite a bit. I acually didn't see Trent get burned very often at all though, so I'm not sure what people are talking about. He showed a lot of promise, and his play was pretty favorable when compared to other rookie CBs I have seen.
BengalPimp
LMFAO at the cut Morgan Trent comment. Are you nuts? For arookie CB, I think he did a solid job, and see him only improving. I think CB wiil be one of our best positions next year, with Trent, and a healthy David Jones (he didn't look fully recovered when he did come back from a foot fracture, ask J Joe how that type of injury can affect you)....I think we have 4 quality CB's......Something to watch in training camp...The fight for the Nickel CB job between morgan Trent and David Jones...Should be good.On a side note....Morgan Trent is our biggest CB at 6'1"
walzav29
Trent must have done something right. He replaced Jones as the 3rd CB. For a rookie he did really well.
walzav29
I seen NFL Network 2 guys picked teams that wouldn't make the playoffs from this year. 1 said the Bengals. Which to me is good. The Bengals heads will not even get close to being inflated. I've heard that their division is to tough. Palmer's elbow is messed up, and they basically suck. This must be the 6th year in a row where everyone picks SD to win the SB.
