walzav29
I think he would do wonders for the defense. I would love to see this, but I'm sure if he leaves Carolina he'll end up in Washington or Dallas. Still would be sweet.
Ickey44
Not gonna happen. He wants too much money.
cincyhokie
This would be great except for the Haynesworth sized contract he is going to be wanting. I don't think that MB is going to put all of his money into one player, nor do I think he should. No one player is worth a 100 mil contract. SupaBran
My problem is will we have a chance at any difference making free agents with this PoS "owner". Let's face it, we either bring in free agents on the downward slope of their careers like Sam Adams, Roy Williams, and Coles or young players with a checkered background like Ced Benson. We don't bring in established players in the prime of their careers...it's just how it is.We go into free agency already out of the race for players like Brandon Marshall or Julius Peppers. Antwan OdomGarrison HearstRogers BeckettKevin HardyDuane ClemonsOliver GibsonRichmond WebbJon KitnaJeff BurrisLorenzo NealTony WilliamsJohn ThorntonNate WebsterKenny WatsonKim HerringTory JamesDeltha O'Neal (Trade)Carl PowellAnthony Mitchelletc, etc, etc. They bring folks in. They just don't seem to want to/try to get the big fish with any frequency. Not getting Shaun Rogers was bizaarro, and the legacy of losing and reputation around the league for being a place where players go before they retire for one or two final paychecks is only erased by winning...something that has been evasive to say the least. gregstephens
Why are we discussing tossing 100 large at a defensive player? I thought everyone was pretty much on board that the defense ISN'T our primary area of concern at this point.Unless Peppers can make 100 catches a year or become another Willie Anderson, this topic is a bit misguided. BengalPimp
Aside from the fact that Peppers will command a huge contract, he has already stated numerous times, he wants to go somewhere where he can play OLB in a 3-4 defense, as opposed to a DE in a 4-3. We don't run a 3-4.....so I wouldn't sign a player who wants to change positions all by himself, rather than helping out a team wherever he can. walzav29
I'm telling you we need a perfect defense to get to the Superbowl. The Jets had a very good defense, but to beat Peyton you have to be perfect. They will have to get to Manning or Brady.

The Jets had a very good defense, but to beat Peyton you have to be perfect. They will have to get to Manning or Brady. And I'm telling you we are as likely to get an even better defense by letting our young guys mature and develop, even more likely, than dropping a huge chunk of change on one veteran. Antwan Odom stayed healthy for an entire season and who knows what could have happened.Brady? I believe they were one and out weren't they? Losing a first round game in a more embarrassing fashion than we did to a team we beat twice? Brady's hey-day is done until the Pats retool. wpeldios
Signing Peppers for the type of money he is going to command would be absolutely crippling to this team. The guy is talented, but he is not dominant, and he is definitely not worth what he is expecting to get. Also, I really don't see this as a signing that will push us over the top.
