JoePong
The Seahawks would have to give up a tonHow much would it take to move Palmer in your opinion? The Broncos got 2 firsts, a third, and a starting QB (say what you will about Orton). While Carson is older than Cutler, I would think Mike Brown would be asking for something similar to this and without being able to get a quality QB in the trade from Seattle, the picks would increase. Orton gave the Broncos the chance (if needed) to transition to another QB later rather than sooner. Seattle can't do that for the Bengals were this not be a BS story. If he isn't better by next year and hasn't showed any improvement, why shouldn't we think about the future? I don't want to just get rid of him for nothing but I gotta admit that he's not untouchable in my book the way he used to be.I have no issue thinking about the future and is the reason why I wouldn't mind seeing them take a QB they feel they can develop after the 4th round this coming draft. I don't want to get rid of him for nothing and more importantly, Mike Brown WON'T get rid of him for nothing either (see Chad Johnson trade being denied for 2 firsts). Untouchable ?? No, but he's still closer to that than many would want to agree with.Cutler was coming off a much better season than Carson is when he was traded. He had just had a fantastic year. Add in the fact that Cutler is younger, and that Carson has had a major injury virtually every season he has played in the NFL, I don't think you Carson would get you nearly as much as what the broncos got. blueridge
Probably the dumbest idea ever floated in a web site known for really dumb ideas. Without Palmer, the Bengals would be right back at square one. Carson Palmer is a franchise QB who hasn't even reached his prime. And I think he played very well this year considering the wretched tools he had to work with. We are fortunate to have him as our QB.I love the guy. Besides, if, god forbid, Palmer went anywhere, rebellion would be fomented in the locker room.
ArmyBengal
I've been seeing where the Eagles may be more inclined to keep Kolb as the future. Vick is going to get to much money and will get released more than likely and McNabb is getting old. With the uncapped year, I think you will see people dumping contracts to move on. McNabb may be in that spot.Carson isn't going anywhere.Just curious y McNabb is in that category but Carson is not?Well, from my perspective McNabb is older, the Eagles KNOW they have a capable replacement in Kolb, AND the players seem to be siding with Kolb going into the future. I guess they figure why not give it a push in that direction.Carson isn't as old, the Bengals have NO replacement, and the Bengals players have mad respect for Carson as a leader. That's all i've got... I don't understand it. He's been a good (at times great)QB for them since coming into the league. He lead the team to 4 straight conference championship games and a Superbowl. Yeah, a win would have been nice, but c'mon. Not many QB's have that kind of success.

I think the Bears got hosed on that end of the deal for what it's worth. Carson has had two major injuries so not quite every year and no I don't count the thumb this year as major.I was only trying to provide what I thought "MIKE BROWN" would be asking for in trade for Carson and doesn't present what might be offered. If you want what I would ask for, well, lets just say MORE... Neither one would happen and why I say the thought of trading Carson is NONSENSE !!!
DC_Bengals_Fan
The only other thing I can add is that for some reason the Eagles fans want McNabb gone after every season. I don't understand it. He's been a good (at times great)QB for them since coming into the league. He lead the team to 4 straight conference championship games and a Superbowl. Yeah, a win would have been nice, but c'mon. Not many QB's have that kind of success.A few things:1) Philly fans are real jackasses. We're talking about the city that booed and attacked Santa Claus. So we have to bear in mind, he gets 10x the abuse there he'd get anywhere else.However...2) McNabb whines a lot, and never takes responsibility when he plays bad. I think that annoys their fans. Like when he got benched for playing like crap and said later that he expected a 'financial apology'. How about an apology for playing like dookie? Why did he need to get benched to light a fire under his ass?2a) McNabb blames others. Like when they lost a game (I think week 17) he made some crack about the team being 'too young' - despite the fact that those young receivers have been making him look good all year. That didn't go over well in the locker room at all. No wonder the players prefer Kolb.3) He never got over the hump after all those NFC championship games (and 1 SB). Since he's the QB in a pass-happy offense, he eats the blame. So does Reid, and there have likewise been calls for his head.4) He's a total choker. Tends to come unglued when the pressure's on. I can almost set my clock by his 4th quarter, 3rd-8 passes that land at the receiver's feet. Then there was that awful end-game performance in the Super Bowl, which may have (depending on whom you believe) been accompanied by McNabb yarfing in the huddle. It's unfortunate, because he has a ton of talent, but he's never felt comfortable with the media, with his teammates, or his role as a QB. In a city like Philly, that will not play well.
bwillycuse
Palmer isnt going anywhere.I do want a veteran backup that can actually play football though. Especially if palmer has health issues. I dont want the season to be over with if he gets hurt. But, Since we are a RUN FIRST team. WHy do we need a franchise QB. It seems wasteful. Were we a run first team out of necessity? DOes Carson want to QB a run first team?I would much rather be a balanced attack team. We are severely overpaying a QB to be throwing for 150 yards per game.Im not sold on either JT or Jordan as a backup. Lets get a proven QB thats doesnt mind holding a clip board. Brunell, Kitna, something. really hope this next year is a good year for Palmer. He is slipping down to Bratkowski levels in QB rankings. He is slipping down to Bratkowski levels in QB rankings. My fear is that Bratkowski stays and nothing changes with the offense which is run first and make Carson throw the ball when he needs to. The problem is that I don't think that's how Carson performs best. He's a rythym QB. He needs to throw the ball more. The only thing that I am hopeful for is that we get some better receivers and continue to upgrade the pass blocking. This should help Palmer. It's just that I can't shake my total lack of confidence in Bratkowski. Even if we have success in the first part of the year, like this year, I have no faith that he can keep up with the rest of the league in adjustments. If he stays I'm keeping my expectations low. Colts, Chargers, Saints, Patriots? We need to score points next year. I don't see us doing that with Brat.
HairOnFire
And again, I've heard Florio admit on the Dan Patrick Show how he sometimes floats rumors he's made up.I don't think he's ever pretended otherwise. I agree. He actually laughed when Patrick told him he couldn't make stuff up anymore now that he'd been hired by NBC...saying something to the effect of..."They know who I am."I know it's popular to bash PFT, but I think it serves a valuable role. So long as the rumors/speculation is clearly marked for what it is, I don't see the problem. I've grown to accept it. Don't get me wrong, I'm still ticked off by the blurred line between sourceless speculation made up out of whole cloth and actual rumor based upon the insider information Florio has proven he sometimes has access to. BengalPimp
Is it PFT or TMZ? Mike Florio or Harvey Levin? They're both lawyers, and both are known for spewing nonsense.
