Anyone else still sick?

I can't even get into this weekends games. Due to the past 28 years I'm conditioned to think that when the Bengals are good, they only will have a shot that specific season. Watching Baltimore and the Jets advance with the exact formula the Bengals were supposed to have sickens me. They have a rookie and 2nd year player and we have Palmer. Yet here we sit. Can't wait to shake it.

At least you got to enjoy the 80's. I've been a Bengals fan since the fifth grade and I've never seen them win a playoff game. I'm 25 now.

Thats a good point. The 80's for the Bengals were like the 70's for the Steelers. Sorry man. Compared to the 90's though you must have been ecstatic since 2003, right?

Still sick?

No.

But judging from the number of typos found in my most recent posts I'm guessing my finger is still broken.

:lmao:

Reminds me of the time when I was in law school and I went to watch court. I'm sitting there with my head resting on my hand, not even thinking that my middle finger, which was stiffened straight up due to surgery, was standing by itself until I saw a very disapproving look from the crusty old judge that had no sense of humor.

Good times. Good times.

I have that feeling too. Game planning, midseason adjustments to injuries, other defenses, other teams...our offense seems to struggle with that.

Here's Brat's take on schemes:

“You just have to be more efficient in the throws,” Bratkowski said. “If you say balanced, you don’t run it as much, then you’re not as good a running team. You can’t say one thing and do another. But what has to come out of it is more efficiency and generate more big plays when we do throw.

“If you sit and tell the players one thing, but your actions don’t jive with what you’re telling them, they go, ‘They say we are, but we’re not.’ ”

Sick ?? Not at all. I'll be watching this weekend and rooting for my next favorite team I've followed since being little, in the Saints.

That and I'm simply to much of a football fan to NOT watch the playoffs.

In all honesty, I've already started looking deeper into the college players, the underclassmen declarations, free agents, and draft possibilities.

Football season NEVER ends !!!

I've known since the halfway point of the season we had no chance to win a playoff game, so I was prepared for it and I guess that prevented me from really being too upset.

It was kind of a relief to get the season over with so we can get to work on fixing things.

I've know since you started posting here that blowing goats took up most of your free time, and I found myself surprised you had time to post at all. I can only imagine you have become very efficient at the goat blowing, which corresponds with the increased frequency of contributions.

I knew from the midway point of writing my post that this would be your response.

Apology accepted.

They replayed the game yesterday on NFL Network and I just watched the 1st series. Hindsights 20/20. The Bengals got 5 yards with Ced. They should have just kept running it. Palmer's early throws were off and the receivers couldn't get open.

exactly what I was screaming at the TV most of the game. Everytime Palmer threw the ball bad things happened, so stop throwing it and pound the crap out of a team that had no idea how to stop CED.

The difference in the game was the Bengals put to much trust into the passing game. The Jets made sure that Sanchez took high percentage throws, and the Bengals thought they could pass a little against a very good defense. It would have been better to play it safer. More WR's would help.

That's what was galling to me. I would have done anything possible to put Dirty Sanchez in a position where he had to throw, and to bait him into making those intermediate length throws. I put a lot of that failure on the inability to slow the running game with the front 7.

As for the passing game...I spent the first half of the season waiting for it to come around, and the second half fearing it wouldn't. Palmer really needs to look at himself and spend the entire offseason working on his mechanics. He also needs to invite Coles to come live with him so they can watch film for months, and get on the same page as to when to break off routes and when not. Assuming Mike keeps Coles, of course.

At least you got to enjoy the 80's. I've been a Bengals fan since the fifth grade and I've never seen them win a playoff game. I'm 25 now.

Come on man that is ridiculous. The Steelers of the '70s won 4 Super Bowls and the '80s Bengals won none. The better comparison would be to compare the Bengals of the '80s to the Steelers of the '90s, consistently close but no cigar. You can't even compare the '80s Bengals to the Steelers this decade because of SB 40 and SB 43.

Maybe what he meant to says is that if the Bengals teams in the 80's were all on steroids that they would've won as many SB's as the 70's Stealers.

Let me try...

I think what he meant was that the 80's for the Bengals was LIKE the 70's for the Steelers. Key word, like. Obviously not comparing the 2 decades but as far as relative to overall team success, the 80's for the Bengals was their best decade....and the 70's was the Steelers best decade.
