derekshank
At the end of the Browns game, Marvin said he'd like them to improve on the small penalties. They went from 10 down to 9. Mission accomplished!

ChadJohnson-85
Chad the last couple of weeks, please stop with the pre snap penalties.Agreed. But wasn't one of those not even a penalty on Chad? In fact I remember watching that "Marvin Mic'd up" video and the ref came over to Marvin and said "my bad" or something like that... kingwilly
one of the talking heads described two types of penalties: ones resulting from lack of discipline and ones that are from competition. False starts, illegal formation, delay of game, etc. Those are on the coaches.Holding, PI, personal fouls, are on the player.I think we've had far too many that should be hung on the coaches. False starts, illegal formation, delay of game, etc. Those are on the coaches.Holding, PI, personal fouls, are on the player.I think we've had far too many that should be hung on the coaches. Consider this. Last weeks version of Mic'd Up showed a very pissed off Marvin Lewis chewing the backsides of Pat Sims and Tank Johnson for jumping offsides. So fast forward to the next game, against Detroit, and what happens? Both players repeat the very mistakes that resulted in their chewings. In fact, on this weeks "Inside the NFL" a mic'd up Tank Johnson can not only be heard immediately dismissing the penalty flag he just got, the Tanker goes on to warn opposing blockers.."I'm coming. You know I'm coming." And Tank did come for them, I guess. But of course he had to wait for the officials to walk off five yards before he got his next opportunity. This is still the same team Marvin Lewis blasted during Hard Knocks...when he wisely told them it was their team and they needed to find a way to fix it. It's on the players. Ickey44
I think it's equally to blame on coaches and players. Coaches need to teach them what to do not to go offsides, and the players need to learn. At what point do these penalties start to cost us games? Do you start reducing playing time to get your message across? The coaches and players need to work together to get this fixed. These next two games are critical and they can't afford to have 10 penalties a game.
