BadLuck
I'd be happy to write for you guys, if you want. I know I'm knew, but I had some 1800 posts over at the Insiders' board, and I feel I'm a pretty decent writer. The topic is a bit old, so I may be too late, but I'll offer my help if you need it. Travman
I'd like to write for the forum: Please not I'm in the military in Europe and don't see every game. I'd just like to contribute some way. Here is my first post hereHey everybody...Born and raised in Cincy, out around the Kings Island area. Been a Bengals fan since I can remember. Joined the Army at the age of 26. Been in radio and television broadcasting in the Army since 1989. Two more years to go until retirement I've been overseas for about 13 of the 18 years I've been in the Army. Let me say, it has been a dismal experience trying to follow the orange and black while doing so. For a period of about 10 years they never showed a Bengals game on television. Had to follow in the papers and on the net. How depressing. Last year got to see two games and thought I was in heaven. One of the games they showed over here was the victory over the Chiefs. What a great day that was for me!!!It was also refreshing to see us win a few games. This year I've already seen 3 games, will wait to see if they show more. I hope to god they show the Pitt game this weekend. This could be the defining game of the year for our team. We need to take it to the Steelers in a big way. I am so glad that we at least have the chance at a good season.{spoken in my best Austin Powers voice}..."Having said that...I do have some thoughts". Could somebody please steal the Prevent Defense page from the Defensive Coordinator's play book. Didn't we learn our lesson against San FranciscoLast week against the Redskins we owned the hogs from jump street. Blitzing, intercepting, hurrying, causing havoc. Not to mention, how many interceptions were right in someone's hands and dropped. If we would've held on to those, we would have been looking at some kind of NFL record!Fast forward to halfway through the third quarter. Bengals 17, Skins nada...Hell, even the announcers were stunned and couldn't figure out how we made Washington our B*^#hes. Then I swear I saw someone coming out of the locker room with a big book and handed it to the D.C. I thought I saw him actually wipe the dust off it!Oh No! Here comes the Prevent Dee. Not one blitz the entire fourth quarter...What the...?Figure it out! As soon as a team starts to run prevent, cover-2, Dumb-ass playbook page...whatever it's called today. The offensive players on the other team actually start salivating. Not to mention, the first thing that happens on the other sideline is the hurry-up package starts up its huge turbine jet engines. If you listen closely you can even hear it. Whhhhiiiiiiirrrrr! And by the way when you need a first down twice in the fourth quarter to keep Washington's hands off the ball and "Prevent" their offense from taking the field...remember 3 runs up the middle is your team's way of calling the other team on the cell and saying...here, we'd just like to test our Prevent Defense out some more. Sheez it's like prevent defenses are contractually sponsored. Just go ahead and announce it on national television. "This week's Bengals Prevent Defense, brought to you by Exlax...We'll zip right through you"We were very, very, very lucky to escape with the scoreboard in our favor. Bengals...if you prevent agains Pittsburgh this weekend, the Mayor may as well buy the case of Burger, Schoenling's or whatever the hell they're betting this year and prepay the shippingI'll close my winding comments with a plea!!!burn the Prevent Page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SSG Lee TravisDetachment CommanderAmerican Forces NetworkVicenza, Italy
