Anyone want to venture a guess of the last time we actually won when playing in Oakland ??

I think it's been at least 9 years. Just saying...

I decided to look it up. Cincy has only travelled to Oakland twice since they moved from LA. They lost both games... the most recent being in 2003.

All of that to say... it doesn't happen often enough for the history to play a role.

As far as actually traveling to the west coast... in the Marvin era it's only happened 4 times, and they are 1-3. Win @SD. Losses @Seattle, @SF, and @Oakland. Just FYI.

though not quite on the coast, they also lost that ridiculous game at AZ in 03. went back and looked....Man, Kitna killed this team with INT's.

So yeah, color me not excited to see a west coast trip on our schedule... We should beat the snot out of the Raiders though !!!

I will say the loss @Seattle was very reasonable at the time, because the Seahawks were good then. More than that, the win @SD is quite impressive. The losses @Oak and @SF still boggle the mind.

But 4 games in 7 years is hardly a large enough sampling to indicate any type of pattern. Even if it was a pattern... why not counteract it with those fancy orange jerseys?

This is a message board, I posted the topic because I thought people would enjoy talking about it (and by the response it appears that I was correct). Would I expect Marvin to talk about this or the players....no. As fans who use football as a medium to escape from the day to day stresses of our lives, meaningless conversation is fun and speculation breeds interaction which goes back to the overall point of this message board.

Im going to say we will not lose to Cle, KC, Oak, or Det. I will not concede we lose to teams that have a total of 5 wins with 23 losses. Somehow Oak has scored less than 9 points per game.Oak beat KC, what does that say for KC. I see Oak only getting worse as the team implodes. Shame on Philly for losing to them. That loss tells me the Bengals wont take that game lightly until they realize they are up 28 points.

KC at Home, Cle at home. (Both of these teams are falling apart as well)

Detroit at home. ok, This is the only team that is improving....err wait they just got shut out. But they will have Stafford back and Johnson healthier. Hmmm this is the only game I think may be an issue, but I am still gonna call it a win. Just not as much a no brainer as the other three.

thats 4 wins. 9-2

Balt at home - I think this game really depends on this weeks Monday night game at Denver. If Balt loses, Dropping them to 3-4. I think the Bengals beat them easily the next week. They will be down and play a bad game in the Jungle. Also, Palmer will tear their secondary apart now that he is back on track and confident in the pocket. Loving the mobility he is showing. Every time he gets flushed from the pocket, he finds the open man as he rolls out. Bengals win regardless of Dencer game. 10-2

Pitt at Pitt - Now Pitt plays Denver the week before also. I assume they will win that. Teams seem to tank it against the Steelers and dont take advantage of Pitts mistakes. On the flip side, Pitt pounces on other teams mistakes. I dont know about Denver either. I cant pick this one. We win this game, we are in a great spot to win the division. (Though check Pitts schedule - its weak)

Minny at Minny - Who frickin knows. Id love to say a win, but I just dont know.(Not very important game)

Chargers at SD - This game I think will be a definite Playoff implication game. Chargers have quite a few gimmes left.

Jets at Jets- This game will almost definitely be huge. Either a win for the division or a win needed for wild-card. I think Jets may have a chance at this point as well.

I think we go 1-3 or 2-2 in these 4 games. Im starting to feel as I look at these schedules that 11-5 will be necessary for the wild card and 12-4 for the division. Just so many cupcakes in there for everybody.

Not much room for error unless Balt makes it tough on Pitt and takes them down at least once.

If the Bengals can beat the Ravens, that would pretty much make them a long shot for a playoff spot with a game against Indy on the horizon too. Then if they could beat the Steelers twice that might knock them out too.
