i disagree with this.

the low class people and morons is the one who want to injury people, steelers are low class people, bengals should not lower themself to their level, and just play and win, i rather win than cause injury to other.

for you to understand me, in my whole life, i never fight or cause injury to other once, one guy did fight me once at deaf club in chicago but i didnt hit back once, because fight is for low life people, in end what happen??

that guy got suspensed from that place, and i was supposed to be suspensed, but witness says i never hit once, and i was let go. who win?? me lol

Agreed Dim. I don't want to see Ward get injured on a cheap shot.

That said... just because I'm not hoping for an injury doesn't mean I don't want someone to hit him. In fact, I would gladly accept the 15 yard penalty that comes with someone blindsiding him, just to give him something to think about for the rest of the game.

I agree with this and wrote my original post way too late in the night. I don't actually want to see anyone injured, but I do want to see someone jack Ward up to the point of making him rethink his philosophies. And if a fine is attached to said hit, my fifty bucks still goes.

Normally I agree. But once the fight is started...I'm a believer in good old-fashioned retribution, if you have a chance.

So if they have a chance to knock Hines Ward into next week, take it.

Alright, guys. Time to chip in and help the cause. Let's take pledges to help pay the fine of any Bengal that injures Hines Ward Sunday. I'll start at fifty bucks.

Forgetting the lilly-livered backtracking seen after this post (shame on you all, DC excepted) - count me in. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see that s**t-eating grin wiped off his ferret-like smug little face. It's not like his career is just starting out anyway and he seems rather dismissive of injuries to other people, especially those he's caused. No big deal right, Hines? It's just football, these things happen.

This is one of the big things I want to distinguish the bengals from teams like the steelers. Repeatedly I've seen ol' hinesy-poo hunker down and thrust UP into the bottom of a guy's helmet, clearly trying to hurt someone on a play when a guy doesn't see it coming. It's not just keith rivers. What I prefer are the hits that Roy, Rey, and Crocker have been laying on people -- nothing cheap nothing illegal nothing remotely dirty. We just hit so hard you don't want to get up afterwards.

The hit that Hines will receive this weekend will be clean, legal, and absolutely awful. He won't like it. There will be a gasp in the jungle for fear that someone was just killed on the field and when it's realized that Hines isn't dead, the crowd will go nuts at sweet retribution.

At the end of the day this is just a game. I hate the steelers more than more or less anything in my life (i have a really good life) but even I don't want someone to go out of their way to intentionally injure another player (even if that player did the same thing to us). Back in my high school sports days (2001 state champ, no big :sure: ) our coach used to talk about gentlemen warriors -- the idea being we dress well to the game, we go meet the coach, friendly to staff etc. and then when the game starts we unleash hell. Play savage, intense, and clean. When the game's over shake the other team's hand, don't gloat, shower and get back on the bus. There's something pretty sweet about beating the tar off the team and then being respectful to them after the game -- double whammy. I just don't like the idea that, in order to be on top of the AFC north, we have to play just like the steelers in every aspect.

Agree. While I don't specifically call for anyone to get injured, it's part of the game, unfortunately, and if Ward gets injured when he has always had this 'head hunter' mentality, alright. You can't play like he does and not assume that risk yourself.

That said, yes, the Bengals need to FINALLY take the physical mentality of 'we're going to smash you in the mouth.' It's not 'playing just like the Steelers in every aspect'. It's how winning teams in this league win. Steelers, Ravens, Patriots before this season, Chargers. The Bengals smashed the Packers in the mouth defensively and they need to that 16 games a year. Never let off the gas.

I have missed the tough physical presence in the middle of the Bengals "D" for far too long. We need to return to the days that opposing receivers are always hearing footsteps, have their heads on swivels, and develop a severe case of what my high school coach called "alligator arms" !
