yayaimhipimhip
The 10 Year Rule has past it's limitations.Didn't the NFL pass a law that allowed Bengal fans to trash talk but ONCE every decade? The start of a new and better Bengal Tradition for the future is NOW it all started with one player. Bengal fans should give major credit to Willie Anderson!!!! He is the reason why a positive attitude to play in Cincinnati exist. Bengal's woes started with our last Super Bowl team.Something like 39 players indicted for rape. Ickey last seen doing his schuffle on the Court House steps after verdict.Following year Tony McGee was only player left from that team and was gone the next.Boomer packs his bags and goes to the Booth. Players fired thier Agents if they ended up in Sinsicy.Length of a carrer depended on the amount of time it took you to leave the Bungals. UNTIL...The Bengals made thier first serious move to actually invest in the franchise. They made Willie Anderson the highest paid lineman in the NFL and with a LIFETIME contract. Willie States he wants to make Cincinnati his home and change the attitude into one where players want to play for the Bengals. And look at the talent and potential we have right now!! Bengals did try to draft Franchise, but the curse of being the Bengals #1 pick were at hand for Ki-wana Carter and Akili Smith. Sorry Willie,it's taken what...8 years and with Last two years of drafting SMARTLY...Willie now has a Legit shot at getting a ring that I feel is muchly deserved!! Barbarian
I really wish I had seen the ESPN piece. Any time a Bengal gets national exposure that's positive, it's a good thing. What JDitty posted about what KWash and CJ said about CP is a prime example of why I'm so optimistic for what CP is going to do for this franchise ("You people just don't know.") I love hearing (reading) comments like that, and I'll never grow tired of it. It's comments like these that are the true testimony to a player's abilities. It's understandable for some of us to be cautious simply because he doesn't have any real experience, or because of past franchise QB failures yada yada... But it's the comments from the guys that see him perform every day, and KNOW what he can do that lead me to believe that he's the real thing...not the comments of doubters who ASSUME he's going to fail solely based on previous experiences that aren't even related to CP's individual talents. Maybe I'm just a blind optimist who wants to believe that we have an MVP caliber QB now...but I don't think so. Here are a few more quotes to fuel our optimism.Bob Bratkowski - "Guys would see him fire a pass and they'd look at each other and go, "Did you see that throw?'"Big Willie - "He knows what he's doing. He's not like situations we had here in the past where people, coaches and personnel people were questioning if a guy knew what he was doing (referring to Akilli). I don't think it's the case with (Palmer)."CJ - "What's amazing about Carson is that everything he throws is on the money. Accuracy is his bread and butter. Hey, it's going to be a long, long season for our opponents." Yeah, yeah. I hate to sound like a broken record but--REGULAR SEASON GAMES ARE MUCH DIFFERENT THAN PRACTICES. It's like comparing apples to oranges.I really hope he can do all these things in a real game--but comeon here--WE'RE JUST FOOLING OURSELVES IF WE DON'T THINK HE'S NOT GOING TO STRUGGLE AT FIRST. And that's bigtime.AND WHAT'S WORSE--HE'S GOT BOB DRUNKOWSKI (A.K.A.--THE WORST OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR IN THE GAME) CALLING HIS PLAYS. THAT SUCKS!!!!! Kirkendall
Hippy (that's for yayaimhipimhip, not stupid liberals), I must say that you are probably the most right. Anytime you invest in a linemen with the degree the Bengals have.. success will only result in the long run.. and hopefully in '04 and definitely in '05, the Bengals (and fans) will finally reap the rewards!Barb - I can't agrue with your point either.. Good posts.
BengalszoneBilly
I think any offensive coordinator will call a better game with more and better weapons at his disposal! :player: C'mon, he was limited with Kitna's inability to streach the defense! Kirkendall
I can personally cite many instances in which Brat has panicked and declared his passing game of more use (almost at a 10-1 ratio) against the run in games they lost by a touchdown or less. kevnz
Not that I'm one to defend Brat, cause I'm normally helping lead the brigade to burn him at the stake. I think his biggest problem was his faith in Kitna...Now I'm a huge kitna fan, but Brat's offense is geared towards the skill players at every postion except QB that this team has. Kitna did wonders with his limited arm strength with a system that is designed to stretch opposing defenses. It also seemed that he didn't have as much faith in Rudi running the ball, especially early on in the season after Corey went down...and whenever the game tightened up he wanted to pass....It all comes down to his faith in Kit....Kit had a great year last year, especially in the games the team won....but he threw a lot of picks in the games they lost, he also missed some key throws that he should have made....Will he make the same mistakes again? Probably not. Hell, I've even spotted a few writers mention him as a possible future head coach...He has potential...He just has to remember to run the damn ball every so often. True, but not that it was the totally wrong call. His pass play calling was limited (IMHO) by Kitna's ability! No doubt he'll have a larger selections of plays to confidently choose from this year! :player:

He would abandon the run far too early in games. I don't blame Kitna's lack of ability for all those picks that he threw in those games that the Bungles lost--I blame the guy calling those boneheaded plays. The fact is--is that YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR PERSONNEL!!! Kitna is the type of QB that is not going to win ballgames for you--so you can't rely upon his arm like Drunkowski did. Kitna needs a strong RUNNING GAME--which the Bungles had in 2003!!! Here's an example--THE ARIZONA GAME!!! The score was close the whole way--and Drunkowski kept on calling passes!!! The war of attrition is not won by passing and taking 3-and-outs when you should be grinding the ball on the ground. Drunkowski must have been driving while drunk at the wheel again to have thrown the ball that many times in that game!!!In fact, I remember when the Bungles hired Drunkowski--I said to myself "WTF??? Isn't this the same guy that tried to make Kordell Stewart into a pocket passer??? This guy is terrible."Another fact: The hiring of Bob Drunkowski was another "cost effective" move by Mike Brown. Keeping Drunkowski around is another Mike Brown move. I stand by my word--HE'S THE WORST OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR IN THE LEAGUE.It's pretty bad when you flunk out of The Mike Martz School of Offensive Play Calling. Oh, I think the Ravens have the worst offensive coordinator in the league...I mean why do you call pass on 3rd and short when you have J Lewis in the backfield...I mean I'd be like calling a prevent d on 3rd and short..... yayaimhipimhip
Kirkendall...thanks for the second on Willie Anderson. This was the START of the Bengal organization to seriously attempt to invest what it takes to build a solid NFL team. Surprised, but happy, in how they Continued to add to their commitment to the team and fans in bringing and KEEPING stronger talent to Cincy. This is the first serious year that as a Bengal fan I can realistically say," The Bengals all the way" and not be seen as just being facticious.Barbarian...you do have a point with it not really Kitna's inability as billybroome believes, but the lack of working with what you have(or in the Bengals case...didn't have) They didn't have the supporting cast needed for a sucessful Kitna.Yes,knowing personel is key,but if you don't have them for ANY kind of solid offensive scheme then it's doesn't much matter.I have to say Kitna's presence was productive, but that's only because help only came from one upper echlon player at a time. Now the Bengal's offensive scheme molds to Palmer....Kitna too!!! This is more the style they should have opted when first getting Jon.,of coarse,we just didn't have the players to take that step.Betcha Kitna wished he had the players back then for what the Bengals now have. Levy...Levy...Levy!!! The strategey of selecting Middle Upper Class players in later rounds instead of trading for ONE Premier...at a later date... is what I've been screaming on how to draft for years. Ya'll haven't heard me?Surprised, My voice does carry. lol
