The Bengals signed rookie DE/DT Ventrell Jenkins of Kentucky. Jenkins (6-1, 286) entered the NFL this past May 1 as a college free agent signee with Buffalo. He was waived/injured on Aug. 1 with a knee sprain, reverted to Buffalo's Reserve/Injured list after clearing waivers, and was released by the Bills on Friday of last week after completing his rehab. A native of Columbia, S.C., Jenkins played four seasons (2005-08) for Kentucky. He had 92 career tackles, with 9.5 sacks and 15 tackles-for-loss.

Monday (8/24)

The Bengals signed free agent DT Langston Moore, a fifth-year NFL player who broke into the NFL with Cincinnati in 2003 and 2004. Moore (6-1, 305; South Carolina) played for Detroit the past two seasons. He played 16 games for the Lions in 2007, logging 37 tackles and two sacks, and he played nine games for Detroit last season, with 27 tackles and one sack. His Lions contract expired following last season, and today marks his first NFL signing for 2009. Moore was a sixth-round Bengals draft choice in 2003. He did not play in '03, spending most of the year on the practice squad, but he played 15 games with eight starts for Cincinnati in 2004, with a career-high 41 tackles and a sack. He played for Arizona in 2005 and for a portion of 2006. He has 51 career NFL games played with nine starts, and has logged 116 tackles with five sacks and three forced fumbles.
