Vince Young has lost it....

I'm not sure where the VY love-fest is coming from. By actually watching him play (when he played), he is erratic and makes poor decisions on the football field. He was a great college quarterback that will NEVER be a quality starter in the NFL. He continues to demonstrate immaturity on and off the field and actually talks like he'd be better suited playing receiver.

Yup. Some knob almost had a hissy fit when I said I'd rather we faced the Titans with VY at QB and not Kerry Collins last yr. One is an aged halfwit alcoholic and the other is VY.

Vince Young takes a step back

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 9, 2009 11:43 PM ET

Vince Young's numbers from his preseason debut Sunday night were poor: 5-of-10 passes for 39 yards, one touchdown, and an interception.

But as anyone who read Mr. Florio's liveblog, looked at Twitter, or actually watched the Hall of Fame game could attest, the numbers don't tell the whole story.

Young looked tentative and confused on the interception throw, and had three drives that ended in a three-and-out.

Yes, it was only the first of five preseason games. But the preseason is as vital to Young as any player in the league.

He needs to show his team and the rest of the league he still has the skills and confidence he displayed as a rookie. That didn't happen, although Young did have a nice touch pass for a score.

Patrick Ramsey, Young's competition for the backup job, looked composed while completing 8-of-10 passes for 72 yards. (Disclaimer: I graduated the same year as Ramsey from Tulane, so those numbers may be totally inflated. The same thing will happen with Matt Forte and Mewelde Moore.)

Tennessee plays again Saturday against Tampa. Young has plenty of time to improve his play, but he risks sliding further down the depth chart if he doesn't.

If he keeps playing like that, he could end up either third string or cut by the team.

I think the Titans will be tough this year. Their first stringers looked far more potent than in years past. Crumpler is still a tough man to stop. Nate Washington isn't Randy Moss, but he's definitely a big step up in the receiver corps than they are used to. The running game scares the crap out of me. White may have lost 30 pounds, but it doesn't seem to have had the 'Rudi' affect on him. Collins is accurate, experienced, fairly intelligent and can make that offense work.

As far as VY goes, he'll be lucky to make the team. He'll then find a home in Detroit or maybe the Texans to play off his college popularity, but I'd be surprised if he's ever a starter again, if he plays more than two more seasons or if he ever has a playoff appearance, much less winning a Super Bowl.
