ArmyBengal
I can't say that I viewed Ellis as the possible solution to Geathers (if one was needed) but rather depth and additional veteran leadership to the young guys of the linebacking corps as well as bringing in an established pass rusher (20 sacks over last two seasons). I fully understand there is far more to it than that, but thought Zimmer would have brought him in to at least take a look and talk a few things. Seeing as how they didn't do that, they must have thought he wouldn't have helped that much. I'll trust Zimmer fully on this.I was just thinking that we had someone similar in Michael Johnson on the roster and would provide a good example. Just one way I was thinking. A role I doubt he could perform to the pay scale he would demand, so my statements were in the context of this thread. That said, his influence on Michael Johnson could have been a good idea and a bad idea simultaneously. Yes he'd be a good mentor on how to play the game... but were seeing more and more about his poor attitude, and that's something I'd prefer to leave on the table at this point. Chad is about as much as I can handle when it comes to selfish money driven players on the Bengals roster.

All the stuff we are seeing right now may in fact be the reason Zimmer didn't bring him in for a look over and like I said before, I'm good with that.
