ArmyBengal
Starting a 3 game series against a struggling Indians club sitting at 30-44. Harang starts off the series with what I believe may be the last chance for Homer Bailey to finally live up to all of the hype surrounding him, when he gets the start on Saturday. Owings takes the mound in the series final Sunday. Volquez now isn't projected to return to the lineup until after the All-Star break, so Homer better get his sh*t together. semiotter
Well I just couldnt watch anymore. Falling behind 6-0 to a last place club, its bad guys really bad.
ArmyBengal
And they lose it 9-2, but before the late runs, it was 9-0. PATHETIC !!!Harang loses again to down his record to 5-8. So, was last year's performance by Harang still considered a fluke ?? I don't know how you go from All-Star, to what he's been able to manage over the last season and a half. I know run support helps, but giving up the runs the way he has (5 earned runs last night in 4 2/3) doesn't help that situation in the least.Votto, Bruce, and Phillips go a combined 1-11 with Phillips collecting the only hit of the night. Can someone please FIRE the batting coach now ?? PLEASE DO SOMETHING !!!Moving on, we have yet another chance to see if Homer can win at this level. I said earlier that I'm ready to move on, but at least he'll be going against one of the worst teams in the league tonight, so there's hope. Here's to hoping he doesn't give up 5 runs in the first few innings !!!In looking at the standing, even the worst team in the NL Central (Pirates) is only 5 games back. semiotter
Well game 2 was better. Cut down on the walks and it was a good start for Homer.
BengalszoneBilly
In looking at the standing, even the worst team in the NL Central (Pirates) is only 5 games back. The whole division seems to be hovering around the .500 mark!
BengalszoneBilly
Good pitching and hitting delivered an 8-1 win today. Back to .500!
rwalling
This team is guaranteed to give you heartburn and should hang around for the rest of the season, especially if Volquez comes back.On the brighter side, repeat after me: FOURTH PLACE CHICAGO CUBS! Priceless.
AGrizzlyBaer
I still cannot believe how bad the central is. To think that the reds are only 2.5 games back? I am glad we are in the central.
ArmyBengal
Ok, I have to play a little catch up here...The game Homer started was to see him pick up the win. In going his 5 innings he did give up 3 runs, all of which were earned. Thankfully he got some run support and the win. I'll buy back into the Homer hype once he can have some success against a better opponent. Until then, I say he's no better than Owings at this point.Phillips had a great game on his birthday and the Reds end up taking 2-3 from the Indians. Isn't that what's suppose to happen when you play a team like that though ?? I'm happy about that, don't get me wrong, but I just want to see a more consistent effort on their part.Sitting at .500 and only 2.5 out of first is just crazy to think of in this division with teams like the Cardinals, Brewers, and Cubs. CRAZY !!!Once again, I'm happy, but with the division playing as poorly as they are, the Reds are going to be in a position where they have better odds of winning their division than they do at getting the wildcard. They are currently 3 games out of the wildcard. They get a day off today...
