ArmyBengal
While it's not the Brewers or Cardinals, the Cubs come to town and it's an important series for the Reds as we are still a game up on the Cubs and 2.5 behind both the Brewers and Cards. The Brewers are starting a 3 game series against the Braves (26-26) and the Cards have a 4 game series against the Rockies (21-32), so the Reds are going to need to keep pace.Matt Maloney who was called up from Triple A Louisville and was 4-3 with a 2.00 era. He was the pitcher was got in the Kyle Lohse trade with Philly and will get his major league debut going against Zambrano who's coming off his 6 game suspension. Let's go Reds !!! ArmyBengal
Ok, Owings got the start yesterday and the loss to go along with it, when the Reds dropped the opener 2-1. Maloney will get the start tonight in a game televised on WGN. Why is that important ?? It means I actually get to see a game out here in South Dakota !!! The Reds had chances to not only tie the game, but win in late and just couldn't get it done. The Reds fall into a tie with the Cubs 3.5 games back heading into tonights game. The Reds aren't faring well in one run games to this point only winning 5 of the 14 games ending that way. They have also lost 3 of the 4 extra inning games they've played this season. Here's to hoping the youngster can do something good tonight at home !!! ArmyBengal
I don't know about the relation... It's a shame that Weathers blew the youngsters chance at his first win. Outside of the two solo homers Maloney gave up, he pitched pretty well for 6 innings. I think they shouldn't have brought him back out in the top of the 7th when he had a 2 run lead, but such is life. They got the win in extra innings right after I made the statement about how poorly they have fared in them up to this point. Maybe I should start making statements like that more often seeing as how baseball is such a superstitous sport.Good idea for a thread there during the offseason... I dont think it costs much extra to buy the sports package so you can get all the fox sports stations instead of just the regional ones.I have watched more Reds games this season than I ever have before, untill this year Reds games were hit and miss, but up to this point they have covered every game I tuned into to. Bearcat1975
I was at the game last night. It was truly a playoff atmosphere. This team is banged up, yet they just keep fighting.Win or lose, this year's Reds have guts, determination, and even seem to be a little lucky when it counts. ArmyBengal
Reds lose 6-3 in 14 innings after Lincoln blows it. The Reds however should have never let it get to that point as they left runner after runner in scoring position on the bags. They really didn't play well at all today. They drop the series to the Cubs and blew a chance to move up in the standings with both the Cardinals and the Brewers losing today...
