The Waiting is the Hardest Part

Football is my distraction, it means nothing in the scheme of things but it allows me to spend a few minutes each day and forget about the bills that need to be paid, sick kids, customers, employees etc. The problem with this time of year is that it offers no distraction because NOTHING is going on. I could find other distractions but none of them seem to be distracting enough, I really don't have time to play video games because my downtime is measured in minutes not enough time to get involved. No other sport affects me like Pro Football. So I am in serious NFL withdrawl and if I have to hear about Favre's retirement saga one more day I might just drive to Kiln, MS myself and the fact that I know of a place called Kiln, MS just depresses me.

I cannot wait until Training Camp until then I feel a little bit like I am in limbo.

I enjoy reading up on what the other teams are doing and I creep around other web sites to see what their fans are talking about. I like fantasy football and hope to have more time for that this season, so keeping up with how the rookies are doing can benefit you as well when drafting a team. I find I can keep myself pretty busy with football stuff, but following baseball and the Reds this time of the season also helps a lot as well.

BTW, Army how did you end up in Sioux Falls? I am in Omaha and Sioux Falls is part of the territory I support, its obvious that you are a Cincy guy and I didn't think there was much of a military presence there.

No sh*t huh ?? I was just down in Omaha this past weekend to go to the zoo with ArmyBengal Jr. and the family. We had a great time. I ended up here when I was offered the job to run the Medical Section of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). They told me I would have to do 3 years with the assignment which will have me ending up with 21 years of service, but they would lock me in so I won't deploy again. Since I left for Afghanistan when ArmyBengal Jr. was 2 weeks old and was gone for 15 months, it seemed like a no brainer. It has been a nice assignment, but the small city is getting old. It's a nice place to raise family.

I have 3 year old twins and having them grow up in Omaha is a whole lot better than having them grow up in Middletown, miss my hometown don't miss the crime, pollution, economic distress etc. It does get a little boring from a sports perspective here in Nebraska, honestly they start talking about rosters for the Spring Game in Late January 24 hours/7days a week/365 days per year Husker talk *blech*
