ArmyBengal
I don't like the whole labeling of Fed-Ups vs. Die Hards as I liken it to being a Democrat vs. Republican. Both have their points, but neither are correct all the time.I find things on both sides that I can agree with... Such is life I suppose, but I won't be angered by it, unless we are talking about Chad !!!

cincyhokie
I'm a bit concerned about the depth at CB with just Jones, Castille, and the rookie. Is it just me or does it appear that we actually have some depth at DT? Odd. I'd like to see Sims start and I think he will.

HAPPYJAQ
Yeah, the Bengals talked about using Lynch in some Nickel and Dime packages as a CB last season before he was injured. He's the 9th DB in my mind. The jury's still out on his speed for the outside, though. David Jones is a lock and got better every game. He could challenge to start this year, especially considering Joseph and his injuries/inconsistency Castille must go.I think Marvin White will be PUP'd, which should open up a slot for somebody..at least for a few weeks. The biggest battles are at WR, RB and FB. We could use another veteran CB, and a CB who could return kicks would be ideal. I think that Scott will be the backup RB and starting PR, almost be default. With the lack of depth at CB, I don't like the prospect of having Hall back there full time and he may be the only other option by opening day. It'll be interesting to see if Chatman is able to bounce back and make the team or if the Bengals will go younger and more than likely less versatile with someone like Purify, Brown or Urrutia. Do the Bengals keep Dan Coats? He's been a core Special Teamer, but is coming off a bad season, IMO. What about a scenario where Coffman outplays Utecht, which I think is entirely possible. It would seem to me in drafting a 3rd round, pass catching TE, that he's in a strong battle for playing time, at the very least. There's another battle at DE, where the Bengals usually keep 4, including a swing type. Geathers, Odom and Johnson are all locks. Rucker had a breakout season, is the team's best run defender at DE and could possibly be the swinger at DT. Blackstock is in the mix, as well. The team seems to like him better at RDE than OLB. Fanene could be fighting for his roster life this season, which I'm OK with. The DeDe/JJ Johnson battle should be pretty interesting. The other question is whether or not Watson is still in the mix. I would give Johnson the nod, due to versatility and durability, although DeDe seems more explosive. The Bengals will almost certainly be looking at the waiver wire closely for another "bellcow RB", too. Would the Bengals consider going with 2 RBs and 2FBs, if Vakapuna can be a swing-type there and insurance at FB for Jeremi? Maybe the Bengals can use Fui similar to how the Ravens use Le'Ron McClain. I also like the thought of having Utecht and Coffman in a double tight end set. As much as I have liked Kelly, his time is about due... Thurmanation
Also, David Jones is the 3rd CB on this team. He played really well last year when forced to start and got better as the season went on. He is way above Castille. Trent has a shot as the #4 CB.I watched teams throw on David Jones so much last season it hurt my eyes. He was the one guy that when you saw Big Ben drop back and throw to an open Ward or Holmes, Jones was 3 feet behind and making the tackle. Wraith
Reggie Kelly being no threat to catch a pass was a clear indication that the Bengals were planning to run the ball! He is a great guy, and a great blocker, but the way Cincy uses him made us too predictable, gone!
HAPPYJAQ
Once again, I'm going against the grain here, but Kelly is still our best blocking TE and by a very wide margin. There is a reason Palmer plead his case when he was an UFA just 2 seasons ago. I don't think they'll re-sign him after this season, but the two guys behind him on the depth chart have been injured and are more receivers than blockers. You also have to consider we'll either have a rookie or a 2nd year player with limited starts starting at RT and Kelly is still one of the better blocking TEs in the game. He had a down season, is aging and is limited offensively, but where his value is remains in the running game as a strongside blocker and in the passing game in max protect, which the Bengals will use a lot this season with the young offensive line. Kazkal
-I doubt we cut Hebert at Safety he was our best guy on the coverage unit....Imo we keep 5 safety's & 4-5 CB's. not 6-No way Dan Coats beats Fui out at fullback.-Brad stlouis isn't going to get cut because Marvin doesn't want to see who ever is long snapping get hurt....hence he took Brad off the coverage unit... ArmyBengal
Agree with Coats being done as a Bengal. He's not an adequate fullback and we don't need him at the TE spot.Didn't Cory Mays sign somewhere else ??I'm also agreeing with the thought of at least a couple of players being placed on the practice squad getting plucked, but it's nice to have that kind of depth for a change... HAPPYJAQ
Fletcher is no longer on the roster.Do you guys really believe our best blocking TE in Reggie Kelly will get cut? With the "new" committment to running the football and some very inexperienced OTs on either side, I think it's pretty unlikely. I know he had a down year, might be slowing down some, and is limited as a receiver, but I think he's an important player in the run game. I don't think we'll go with 3 MLB's, either and that other LB spot will go to Kyries Hebert, who is coming off one of the best Special Teams seasons in Bengals history. He had a Pro Bowl-caliber season covering kicks and played with heart and hustle from scrimmage at the end of the season. I really like the idea of keeping two FBs, which would mean we'd have to go light at another position. I even like what Pittsbugh and a handful of other teams do in keeping only 2 QBs, with a 3rd QB on speed dial.
