ArmyBengal Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 This is the place to discuss everything there is about who the Bengals take in the 3rd round... I will leave this thread open throughout our second pick in the third, but I'm asking to move conversation about the first pick in the 3rd to the Actual Pick thread. Thanks for the assistance in keeping this thing organized !!!
ArmyBengal Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 What about Center ?? I think we need to move up to get a Center. I really don't think they can wait until the 3rd...
jditty47 Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 I would love to see them trade up to get Unger, we have enough picks stacked to trade up. I know we can't trade comp picks but we can trade anything else. I think they could get it done by offering their 3rd and a 6th for the 2nd of someone. Either that or take Caldwell in the 3rd if he's available.
HairOnFire Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Trying to guess which players might be available 30 picks from now is almost impossible but put me down for.... CB - Asher Allen ORG - Kraig Urbik OC - Jonathan Luigs
kingwilly Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 What about Center ?? I think we need to move up to get a Center. I really don't think they can wait until the 3rd...Agree...weave the 70th and 98th in r3. What does that buy us?Caldwell is "slotted" in that part of r3 but does it warrant the risk? after him it begins to drop-off...
ArmyBengal Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 If we don't manage a Center what are we going to do, bring back Girlcheck ??
DesperateDerelict Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 We still need a quality RB and pressure off the edge....hopefully, they have a center 'backup' plan (Luigs / Caldwell / an OT or OG that converts).I'm hopin' for a dynamic pass rusher, or trade up for Connor Barwin.
ArmyBengal Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 Barwin to the Texans and I don't really expect DE soon.

Our 'Bama Boys!
Kazkal Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Only if Unger would fall in our laps rnd 3...I would cry I'd even be fine trading up 20-30 range round 2 for caldwell.

Spor_tees Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 I think they can get a tough guy like Shipley from Penn State at the end of the third round or maybe the 4th round for the center position. I look for them to go some kind of skilled position player at the top of the third round. Shon Greene, Glen Coffet, or maybe Rashad Jennings.

Certainly not the same as some of the top ones, but he is a tough kid and played at a high level in college. Probably not a pro bowler, but should be better than what is on the team right now and can be had in the the 4th.
Kazkal Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Damn unger is gone...\fingers crossed for caldwell....RB I'd wait till end of 3rd and take Johnson out of oregon.
coupdayta Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 This has been a GREAT draft so far. Very pleased with Andre Smith and am stunned Ray fell to us. But, we won't be taking Unger. He just went to Seattle.

He also won the Rimington trophy as the top center of the year.
Clackwoods Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Why dont we slide Whit or Fat Boy over to center and take Duke Robinson in the third and then a RB at the end of round 3???We don't have to draft a center
ArmyBengal Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 In my first mock draft I did long ago, I had Luigs coming to us much earlier. I guess I would still be good with that.I just don't want to have to try to convince myself that another center later on would have been better than trading up for Unger when we had the chance...
Spor_tees Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Am I missing something or is Michael Johnson still available as well?
Pidge Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 So Wood and Mack are the only Centers taken so far?
