This is the place to discuss everything there is about who the Bengals take in the 3rd round...

I will leave this thread open throughout our second pick in the third, but I'm asking to move conversation about the first pick in the 3rd to the Actual Pick thread. Thanks for the assistance in keeping this thing organized !!!

I would love to see them trade up to get Unger, we have enough picks stacked to trade up. I know we can't trade comp picks but we can trade anything else. I think they could get it done by offering their 3rd and a 6th for the 2nd of someone.

Either that or take Caldwell in the 3rd if he's available.

What about Center ?? I think we need to move up to get a Center. I really don't think they can wait until the 3rd...

Agree...weave the 70th and 98th in r3. What does that buy us?

Caldwell is "slotted" in that part of r3 but does it warrant the risk? after him it begins to drop-off...

We still need a quality RB and pressure off the edge....hopefully, they have a center 'backup' plan (Luigs / Caldwell / an OT or OG that converts).

I'm hopin' for a dynamic pass rusher, or trade up for Connor Barwin.

we can't trade comp picks so that 98th is not tradable.

Just updated that for you...

Agree about moving up...There will be serviceable RB's into the sumer/fall from tams with too many...

Caldwell also addresses the Bengals traditional "two-from-same-school" approach. Our 'Bama Boys!

I think they can get a tough guy like Shipley from Penn State at the end of the third round or maybe the 4th round for the center position. I look for them to go some kind of skilled position player at the top of the third round. Shon Greene, Glen Coffet, or maybe Rashad Jennings.

That was my thought for Center. Certainly not the same as some of the top ones, but he is a tough kid and played at a high level in college. Probably not a pro bowler, but should be better than what is on the team right now and can be had in the the 4th.

Shipley may be a bit small for the likes of many on this board, but he did play in a very tough conference in the Big Ten AND he was named the Big Ten Lineman of the year. He also won the Rimington trophy as the top center of the year.

In my first mock draft I did long ago, I had Luigs coming to us much earlier. I guess I would still be good with that.

I just don't want to have to try to convince myself that another center later on would have been better than trading up for Unger when we had the chance...
