Madden or ESPN Football?

Recommended Posts

I am just as much a madden fan as anyone, but after playing like 10 seasons in it, I decided to TRY espn. It sucked initially because everything was different buttons and gameplay was different. But I gave it a shot and it BLOWS away Madden in 2004. I sure hope Madden is better in 2005, b/c I love the EA Profile thing, but I wont discount ESPN next year. I will definately give them a try.

ESPN 2004 is more realistic looking. Better tackles and much MORE tackles. Just so much better in so many ways. It does lack the whole moving the team to different cities and managing the finacial end, etc, which is cool, but gameplay and realism is much more important to me and ESPN takes this portion.

Just my 2 cents

I think both are good in different ways, the running in ESPN 2004 is too effective (partially because are too easy to break, partially because they don't have any inertia when running so they can cut faster than Barry), Madden doesn't look as realistic, overall it's just up to each person to try em out and choose for themselves.

I don't think either game is nearly as realistic or has better graphics than Tecmo Super Bowl on the original Nintendo. Where else can you play with Mike Singletary and Eric Dickerson?

Plus, we all know that punters routinely boot 80-yard punts and quarterbacks can throw it from one end zone to the other. I especially like the ability to swerve back and forth to keep would-be tacklers at bay.

Tecmo Super Bowl all the way.

yeah, i don't understand why real football players don't use this method. it obviously works. wouldn't it be great if dillon decided to give it a shot while playing for NE

two options in that game.

1) use buffalo...nobody can catch thurman thomas...ever.

2) well...except maybe lawrence taylor. use the giants and get a sack or loss of yards against the rb for literally 95% of the plays.

man, i love that game.

Why don't all the madden bandwagon fan's look at those video's before they decide madden is the better game.... I mean have people even bothered to look at espn football...or they just say i'll go with madden, because it has a new roster update.

Graphics are not the most important part of a game, so simply watching a video will never tell you which is the better game.

that is the simple reason why madden is better than espn. espn has great graphics but the gameplay sucks.

yes madden is better...if u want just graphics with the ability to throw all day and run all day cuz juke moves make u god and the secondary on defense doesnt react properly...u buy espn...if u want real game play with real situations and defenses that react correctly and the fact that u have to work and actually run a offense and defense, then u get madden :D

I guess you haven't noticed that in ESPN good running backs can typically run over 2 or 3 people on a single play. In fact, the champion of the ESPN national tournament has only one passing play in the final game. All he did was run with Ricky Williams, and even though his opponent knew he was going to run and stacked against the run, he could not stop him.

they fixed that this year... rb's break maybe 1 tackle... they have a new feature called maximum tackle, that allows you to explode on a rb, and knock him down.... why i said watch the videos.
