DC_Bengals_Fan
Just for the record if Monroe and Andre Smith are both available I'd prefer Smith, and by a fairly wide margin.Concur, I just don't think the Bengals have the balls to actually go out on that limb...Serious? The Bengals have built a house on that limb. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.I've resigned myself to the fact that the Bengals are taking A. Smith, almost guaranteed, unless something stupid happens. Like ESPN's mock that has J. Smith falling to them, which makes me question why I still read EPSN.com.I've talked myself into looking forward to it.
ShulaSteakhouse
-Bengals draft the big baby from Alabama with #6-#6 Holds out until the final game of preseason-When he does report, he is grossly out of shape-Takes him half the season to get into playing shape-Finally does see action around week 9, not due to earning a spot, but gets plugged in there due to other injuries on the oline-plays for 3 years here, serviceable but not great, then spends the rest of his time warming the bench, half-assing it, and trying to find a way outFeel free to print out this list and check the events off as they happen, for those of you keeping score at home. There's nothing wrong with predicting that this is how it will play out here with Andre. I can already see his agent saying he should get paid like the #1 pick and wanting things in his contract that Mike Brown will not go for etc..., ever. I see a prolonged hold out and a player who won't satisfy Marvin in practice until later in the season when it's too late. Meanwhile they could use that #6 pick to get an immediate impact and start the season off on the right foot. If Andre avoids all of the above, I'd be a bit shocked, but thankful - I'm just not counting on it. I'm praying Curry falls to 6, praying. And I would not be unhappy at all with Monroe either (or God forbid Jason Smith falls that far - which he won't).
ArmyBengal
Any player drafted by the Bengals at #6 is in the category of a holdout waiting to happen. ANY...

I'm waiting until August, when it's revealed that the two sides are $2000 apart, and Mikey's trying to pay part of the bonus with expired Target gift cards. ArmyBengal
To start, I think Curry (while applauding his willingness to do get a deal done) is crazy to not take the extra money that is a guarantee. Sure 30 million is a ton of money (well, to some here at least) but the increase would just be insane. The money these guys are getting is just beyond crazy. Here's food for thought, the player we take at #6 will probably be one of the top 5 paid players on the Bengals before ever taking a snap. Crazy !!! Gholston got 5 years and 50 million at the same slot in '08 and there's a guaranteed 8% increase every year, from the previous year's pick. ArmyBengal
And there you go. Did I mention how crazy that is ??
blueridge
Like most, I would be happy with the Bengals taking any of the top three OTs at #6. Or Aaron Curry, if the OTs are gone. But what if all 4 are gone? Trading down is easier said than done. If they keep the pick and the aforementioned players are gone, how about Tyson Jackson? Prepare yourselves.
