walzav29
I have been arguing with an idiot about Marvin Lewis and I checked out Bill Belichecks time in Cleve. He had a worse record than Marvin after 5 seasons, and everyone thinks of him as a genius. We have to realize that Mike Brown is a disability and Marvin is as good as we're going to get. We should just feel lucky to have him and realize he is doing the best he can. Think of how dumb it was to bring back Thurman and Henry. That's part of the reason they sucked so bad. He's slowly turning it around.
Esiason#7
But the thing is nobody really considered him a genius until he started winning superbowls with New England. So once Marvin starts winning superbowls then I may consider him a genius, but until then I will just consider him an upgrade over the previous three coaches we have had (Shula, Coslet, LeBeau). Kazkal
No Doubt I don't even wanna think about who our next HC would be....Paul Alexander? maybe CHuckyB is available.
walzav29
Thats what I'm saying. The Bengals improved their image in Marvin's 1st couple of years, but there is a direct connection to Mike Browns moves and the Bengals tanking. He coddled Chad Johnson, and let all of those maniacs run the asylum. Marvin almost has it under control again. We just need Chad to be traded. SoClose. Spor_tees
When I criticize Marvin it is because of things he does like player choices, times to take time-outs, and his piss poor use of the challenges. Marvin is by far the WORST coach at clock management I have ever seen. I would honestly have to say, I think his poor clock management may have cost him 3-5 games in his time in Cincinnati. ArmyBengal
I'm happy we have Marvin and everytime I hear people say, "Marvin wouldn't still have a job with any other team" I immediately think to myself, "How many of those teams have Mike Brown as an owner?" While I'm not about to claim Marvin to be greatest coach ever, there is no one else at this point I would bring in if he were to be fired. I still say Marvin will get to finish out his contract here (at a minimum) and I'm really good with that...

He is not anything more than an employee, like the guys selling peanuts or pouring beers. I think he has done a decent job at one of the worst franchises in major sports. Hats off to him. Perhaps he WILL be the next Belichick, once he moves on to JAX or SD.
Dimster28
marvin lewis is and will be a good head coach for us and he will be here for long time, it takes time for a coach to understand how mike brown's mind works, so that way ml can con mike brown into having his own way by making mike brown think it is him who want that

Any success we have is because of Marvin but it will be all too brief and sporadic in the current system. Who knows though, maybe the planets align and we win the whole frigging thing. Belichick would be a fraud, a false prophet, in comparison.
cincy9275
appreciate marvin for what? letting chad and all the other dick heads just do as they please? or keeping brat and alexander, who's offense and postion players have deteriorated to the point it is now? or for firing frazier and hiring bresh? or for letting stein an willie walk while we keep the sack master twins stacy and levi? or for his poor game management? as army said if this where any other team marvin would not have a job. now being this is the nfl marvin should thank his lucky star he still has a job here, most coaches who fail like he has don't get a second chance with the same team. marvin is, and i hope he learned from the past and puts it toward making this a better and more consitant team staring now. so far it seems like he gets it, but only time will tell. It was all going so well until Marvin turned up and ruined everything! Change the coach, see what happens. As for you bolded sentence - duh, that's exactly the problem with the Bengals. One last time, Marvin hasn't broken a thing. He wanted CHenry gone. Guess what, he's back on the team. Just one public example of why any tangible success this team might have is going to be fleeting at best. We can all spend our energies getting riled for nought but at least target that frustration at the right people. Or, accept the current 20 yr predicament for what it is and remember all those poor souls in a city with only an NBA team to follow.

ArmyBengal
Don't get me wrong here. I said, I DISLIKE it when people say "Marvin wouldn't have a job with any other team".His efforts are in proportion with what is allowed by Mr. Mike Brown.I find it difficult to fault Marvin when he speaks his viewpoint only to have it thrown back in his face. (See Chris Henry)
