ArmyBengal Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Corey Mays is now a KC ChiefNOOOOOO !!!! WHY GOD WHY ?? THE SEASON IS OVER !!!
fattyjay Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 This just confirms our lack of depth at MLB. How do they not take Maualuga at #6? I like Dhani but he's not getting any younger and Mays was his backup last year and beyohnd that the bengals got squat for depth in the middle.
whizzo Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 maualuga at #6? only if we get a a good pass rusher in the 2nd or 3rd round, which in turn means we'll have to shift the picking of a second OL-man to the fourth round.
Bearcat1975 Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Mays was a good special teams guy but his role should be able to be replaced through the draft.
Kazkal Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Well I would love to see us get maualuga..letting mays go is no sign of incoming maualuga.....We could get a 7th round special team LB for the same roll may played....
Walrus Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Well I would love to see us get maualuga..letting mays go is no sign of incoming maualuga.....We could get a 7th round special team LB for the same roll may played....I agree that there are surely other MLB prospects that could be had in virtually any round of this draft. That said, MLB has been a huge ? for this team for years now and nobody they bring in has stuck for long. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe if Dhani starts in game 1 that will mark the first time under Marvin that we've had the same MLB start game 1 in adjacent seasons? Marvin has called MLB the "quarterback" of the defense. This team had better be on the lookout for our future starting MLB in this draft or next year's draft.EDIT: Dhani is "only" 31 so he could conceivably start for several more years (Ray Lewis is 33 and just re-signed w/ the Ravens) but as much as I like the guy I don't see that happening. Anybody disagree?
whizzo Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Maualuga would definitely fit that "QB of the D" role, his hard style would boost everybody. however, i still feel we have more pressing issues to address with our no. 6 pick - OL and pass rush. ergo, i think we'll have to look for an MLB in the mid or later rounds of the draft.
Baraka Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 while not spectacular, dhani is steady. there has been very little continuity at that position since marvin took over. dhani is the veteran of a young defense, the guy with the green sticker. bring in second day MLB types to play teams, and let the kids mature around dhani, as unspectacular as he may be
Thurmanation Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I think Rey might be a reach at 6. Im still in favor of trading up; like trading our first for the Redskins first and second. Taking Rey with our first and a great OT/OL with first 2nd and edge rusher with the second 2nd.

Taking Rey with our first and a great OT/OL with first 2nd and edge rusher with the second 2nd.that really doesn't make any sense. you want to trade up . . . with the skins. . . who pick at 13. anyway the skins don't have a second round pick, they won't be giving any picks to anyone, they got burned on the jason taylor deal. another example of not crossing parcells.
CJBestInAFC Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I think he meant to trade down with the Skins and drafting Rey in their spot. I like this move especially if they get another second round pick, but not with the Skins. Look if we stay at 6 you will be picking either: Raji, Orakpo, Oher, A. Smith, Crabtree, Everette Brown, or Maybin. Oher, Smith, Brown, and Maybin I see all as reaches as many see Rey as a reach at 6. I think you can maximize your draft by trading down. Look how it worked out for the Pats last year when they traded down to select Mayo.
ArmyBengal Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 For anyone to think the loss of Mays makes Maualuga the pick at #6 is laughable. Sure Mays provided depth and teams play, but as stated, that can be found later...

jditty47 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 lol. i just dont see why topics are posted in the bengals forum for EX bengals that are now on a team outside of the organization. Seems like a NFL forum related topic.
ArmyBengal Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I was going to move it at the start, but the thread went in another direction quickly about how the departure creates other thoughts in regards to the Bengals. That's just my opinion and if one of the other mods sees it differently, I'm sure they will move it.

"citizen's arrest" specifically means you don't need a badge (and you're ergo a citizen) to make an arrest. if he had a badge, it wouldn't be a "citizen's arrest", because he'd be an official

My mistake, and i didn't necessarily mean trade with the skins which is why i said "like trading our first for the Redskins" I meant trading with anyone in that 11-16 range who needs to jump down (or up) to number 6 and grabbing they're 2nd rounder for it. This way we get Rey without reaching, we also get an additional 30th-sh pick to grab a pass rusher. Cause in the end would you rather have 1st:Oher (OT) - 2nd:Unger ©- 3rd: semi decent pass rusher (DE)- 4th: Depth at (LB/CB/OL)OR1st: Rey (MLB) - 2nd: Troy Kopog (OT) - 2nd: Alex Mack © - 3rd: Brandon Graham (DE)Id go with my idea. We don't have an extreme need at OT to waste the 6th pick.
Whur CHad At? Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Who cares about Corey Mays? Really who cares? TJ still has Reggie Myles as his icon..hahaah
TJJackson Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Who cares about Corey Mays? Really who cares? TJ still has Reggie Myles as his icon..hahaahI wouldn't expect someone whose interest are restricted to OchoStinko and Crabtree to understand that this is indeed Bengals news and therefore topical hereAnd yeah....Reggie remains one of my favorite Bengals players. I have never wavered from expressing my interest in good special teams play.
Whur CHad At? Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Who does Reggie Myles play for again? s**t is it? No...Maybe...NO ONE.Get over yourself dude your not cool talking everyone down like you do. You never have anything good to say unless it is an attack on someone else. And yeah I am attacking you here but it is much needed.
TJJackson Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Ridiculous, which is about as much as can be expected from you.Questioning my avatar? Weak. Seriously. It's a picture. Crawl back into the sack with your bed-buddy Chad, moron.
Whur CHad At? Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I'll be chilling with Channing Crowder, while you do your time with Odell.
