Couple of interesting things concerning the Bengals

With TJ gone, they will have alot more downfield speed when it comes to their receivers. J. Simpson should be able to figure out a couple of routes by his 2nd season. If Chad regains his mind and participates through everything maybe he can help. The receivers from top to bottom should be better than last year. Throw in a better line, CP, and Ced and you may have something here.

Caldwell, Henry, Chatman, Simpson, and Utecht should easily be able to match T.J.'s production this upcoming season. I expect a breakout year from at least one of those guys with more playing time, if T.J.'s gone. I really liked how Caldwell and Henry blocked in the running game the end of last year, which should help the Bengals break more long runs.

I have high hopes for Caldwell this coming year. In college, he was a good run blocker and wasn't afraid to catch balls over the middle of the field, and this past season he has showed some good moves to get yards after the catch. With his blocking, speed, and ability after the catch, I think he can be the most complete receiver the Bengals have had in a long time.

Losing TJ would be bad..but i don't believe it would be half as bad as wasting money to keep him for one more year and missing out on players we need more than him. How many 1st tier recievers can you have on your team?

Well, it depends on who you ask in regards to downfield speed. TJ and other have commented on the fact that TJ actually has the speed, but has been stuck in the slot where his speed has gone "to waste" so to speak. With players like Chad and Henry, he's not going to get that chance with the Bengals either. I think that would be another thing to look forward to with another team in need of a WR. He would get the chance to be a more versatile WR that he's been unable to do here.

I think the WR position will be fine with or without TJ...

22 million under the cap with Benson, Graham, Brandon Johnson, Jeanty, Crocker, 9 draft picks, a few undrafted rookies and a few injury/ineffectiveness replacements to sign.

Mathematically, if just doesn't make sense to spend about 45% of yout total cap room on one player, who is an aging WR.

Indeed. I'll miss T.J. but you could let him walk and vastly improve the OL with Jason Brown for cheaper. For what T.J. was relegated to we can get that same production from Caldwell I hope and believe. Although I am in favor of drafting a couple more talented WR's considering Holt and Chatman IMO need replaced as does/will soon Chad, and Henry is Henry so there is that but resigning T.J? I'd love to, sadly the OL needs a quick fix worse.
