HAPPYJAQ
I have the suspicion that Jerome could be a Larry Fitzgerald type of receiver. I still remember watching the combine where he set the long jump record last season. Even if it was only practice, I take it as a good sign. We have enough in the cupboard with Carson back between Jerome, Caldwell, Henry, Chatman and the PS guys. I am sure the Bengals will draft or sign another WR, as they seem to do every season. Hell, JON KITNA was able to be productive throwing to guys like Ron Dugans, Matt Schobel and Danny Farmer in the offense. I expect Utecht to be more of a factor receiving the ball in year 2, as well. ArmyBengal
I'm not trying to be a smartass, but the thought of how the long jump is somehow some sort of defining portion of the draft process is funny to me. I get the whole athleticism thing, but it's just funny. I mean really, he set the long jump record at the combine ?? He must be a pro bowl caliber WR right ?? Funny...I am hoping and more to the point PRAYING that Simpson has the kind of year that our "scout" staff thinks he is capable of having !!! That in itself is rare athletic abilty, considering at the Combine are the nation's best prospective professional football players. Whether that ever translates to actually playing football remains to be seen. That said, all things being equal, I'd take an elite athlete over an above-average athlete any day. I remember when they said that T.O. was an athlete and he wasn't a "football" player, coming out of the University of Tennessee at Chatanooga. He's done OK.We'll have to wait and see on Jerome. ArmyBengal
Agree with the athleticism in Simpson and I really am hoping to see good things out of him this year, but like I said before, it's just funny...
