Even for the die hards

Well after this weekend even a old die hard like myself can see its over. Losing 3 straight to the ROCKIES (Sunday 11-0) its easy to tell that this club has gave up. Another year of no playoffs or even a winning team. Oh they teased us really good this year, thinking that maybe this could be the year they start looking better. But no its the same old game here for REDS fans again. And now that the trade deadline is near who will be gone? DUNN? or some of the pitchers? Oh well wait and see what happens this week and WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR""""AGAIN"""

You're right. Stick a fork in them, they're done.

Yeah, after this weekend, even I'm admitting it's over...what a pitiful performance. Jockerty has never been shy about pulling a deadline deal, so we'll see what happens.

The smart thing to do would be to deal Griffey and Dunn prior to the deadline because there is no way either will be brought back next year. The Mets could really use Dunn's bat in the outfield.

They've been done, we just got a little jump out of them which led to a little optimism only to be crushed... Such is the life of a Reds fan.

That's not the Reds team I grew up with. Things have obviously changed, and I'm sad for that. Cincinnati is a great city that deserves better fortunes in sports. :(

The only fix for that is for the Reds to find another top shelf GM like Bob Howsam was. The creator of the Big Red Machine. He retired to Sun City Arizona (from where he then passed on) just down the street from my father-in-laws house in a rather nice country club setting. After much begging, my father-in-law finally introduced me to the man. His home was adorned with Reds memorabilia, but for some odd reason he preferred to talk about his golf game!

OTOH maybe it's not so odd. He was always a multi faceted person. He was a U.S. Navy pilot in WWII, and founded the NFL franchise of the Denver Broncos. It's not surprising that when he handed over the Reds GM duties to Dick Wagner in 1977, things took a turn for the worse.

Only the 1990 Reds made things notable again for the Reds in baseball.

I miss those days.
