mgilgris
Hey fellas I was just wondering if anyone was able to see any of the OTA's? From what I have read, Odom is down in weight. Apparently he is at 250 but is suppose to be at 275. This kind of worries me. Also from what I have read is henderson is running as the third end, and have not heard a thing about Frostee. I have also been intrigued by the attempt to move Coats to fullback/ H back. I have never really been a fan of Jeremy since he always comes in so overweight. If nothing else this increased competition may get him in shape better if not replaced. Also, Rudi has apparently beefed up which would be nice. Any other insights into player development, from the players that were actually there? How fit or unfit is the line looking? Anyone beefed up or leaned down? He benched 225 around 40 times at his combine. You like to see raw physical strength at the FB position....just sayin.....that, and he's a lunchpail type....friendly, well mannered, well spoken, close to his kids, etc.....we need more of this type of player

Give me Coats over JJ. Just another Johnson I can do without.
mgilgris
I just like that there actually will be some competition. I mean even having the young WR's will hopefully push the vet WR's. No likes to look bad, especially by a younger less experienced guy. I also like the increased competition at LB. I am not sure I am impressed with the possibilities but at least there is competition for the spots which I think we lacked last year due to injuries (knock on wood this does not happen again.) All in all I just really do not want the bengals to keep around a bunch of people on the IR again this year like last. If they cant play, do not keep them. This wait and see game just does not cut it.

TJJackson
I LOVE the fact that Henderson is running at the third DE.If he can just stay healthy - which is a mighty big if at this point - he could well be a 6-12 sack guy, depending somewhat on his playing time and (again) ongoing healthI also LOVE the fact that Frostee hasn't even earned a mention so far. Obviously, you're no fan of Rucker -- I'm not either -- but the woeful depth at DE has me concerned. If Rucker or Fanene can't go (they have yet to get healthy and prove themselves) we will be in the ironic position of having to convert a LB to DE --probably Jeanty, but supposedly Brooks has been taking snaps at DE recently. As it is, Henderson has spent his whole NFL career to this point preparing/learning his role as an LB (and trying to get healthy) and now is getting switched. The absence of Rucker and Fanene thus far is NOT a good sign...
TJJackson
If they need a 4th sting DE, they will doubtlessly pull one off the waiver wires in late preseasonThey also have the possibility of developing the Craig kid from UC......late round draftee.....he played DE, but he is sized as a LB

He better get on the donuts and weights soon. Looks like he needs to put 20 or 30 lbs on. All pointy elbows n s**t.
TJJackson
He reported to OTAs at 235 pounds......oh, and at this weight he runs a 5.0 40.He makes Frostee look fast

He's a servicable guy who can actually stay healthy. They also have the possibility of developing the Craig kid from UC......late round draftee.....he played DE, but he is sized as a LBHe reported to OTAs at 235 pounds......oh, and at this weight he runs a 5.0 40.He makes Frostee look fast...which is why I don't include him in my assessment of the DE situation. I don't know what the plans are for this kid, but I expect him to spend this season on PS. So we've got 3 guys providing depth, none of whom have been able to stay healthy with limited playing time. Of course, you can also say that about 75% of the team...

He's a servicable guy who can actually stay healthy.Because he's an 800 year veteran and the veteran min is a lot higher than some fellow they can snap up with 1-2 years experience who'd be equally mediocre.Mediocre play+ low pay is better than mediocre play + high play Plus young guys generally have some upside - the light inside can suddenly click on and then you have a quality player
