semiotter
O.K I have never played pro baseball are nothing near it. I have never mananaged a game in anything higher than little leauge baseball. But Jesus this guy is hitting a whopping.200 or close to it. But still this guy keeps leading off and its really killing the REDS. Sunday he goes "0-8' with a sac. bunt in the late innings and this is a joke. I know he and DUSTY have a past but come cut this guy and bring up BRUCE. We are only a few players away from making this work and I really dont think the REDS BRASS can see this. O.K now that ive said my peace im ready for you guys to rip me a new one for saying this, but I just had to get it out there. rwalling
How bad do you have to be to go 0 for 8 against the worst team in the league?!Time for Jocketty to assert himself and can Dusty "buddy"John Fay is fearlessly predicting big changes upon the Reds return from the road trip.Hopefully that includes:1) an end to the Belisle is a starter experiment. He's a long reliever, at best, at the major league level, get over it.2) Bailey starts. End his time out and let him come up here and pitch like he has something to prove.3) Jay Bruce ... in center ... EVERYDAY4) Trade Freel. Sounds like the going rate is ten bats. Maybe the worst base runner for his speed in the history of baseball. Plenty of talent, too many voices in his head.5) Trade Josh Fogg back to Colorado, that makes twenty bats. Classic addition by subtraction.6) Demote Patterson until he learns how to hit or he gives up. I know it will hurt the Bats, but that's better than keeping his 200 average in the bigs.7) Trade Hatteberg. Nice guy trapped in a crappy spot.8) Bring up Phillips. Here's an idea, a right haded thumper on the bench! Novel. 9) Get rid of a catcher. Any catcher not named Bako.I don't mind the Reds going about .500 this year, but I'll be damned if I'm going to watch them do it with the same crappy players. Let's see what the kids can do! BengalszoneBilly
Off to the minors he goes...Patterson optionedby JohnFay at 5/28/2008 2:26 PM EDTDusty Baker said Corey Patterson came to him yesterday and volunteered to go Triple-A."It was a mutual decision," Baker said. "I was going to call Corey in and talk to him. He came in before I called him in. He said, 'I got to get my act together. I've got to change some things.' He knows he's better than he played. He's still got the skill, the talent. He's still only 28 years old. It's a good move to go down, stay a while and get his stuff together."It sounds like there's mechanical problems with Patterson's swing. "No. 1, he's got to get on that fastball and eliminate some steps. Basically, hitting is like a two-step process. He had a third and fourth step in there." UPDATE: Patterson does, indeed, continue to make $3.5 million while he's at Triple-A. As a five-year veteran, he could have refused the option. semiotter
Well there something about Corey that Dusty really likes. I dont know but he did hit a big homer SAT. and can play def. the way the REDS are banged up we need him for now. Adam D unn is the one thats killing the REDS now, batting and in the field. And what is it a curse to play SS for the REDS this year...OMG!!!!!
