TJJackson
from: http://www.daytondailynews.com/o/content/s..._overheard.htmlWith the move of Ahmad Brooks to SLB, that spot was getting quite a bit crowded anyway, but DE is Eric's natural fit, and it gives him a chance to put his excellent pass rush skills to work.I wish I had another source for this info, as Chick has been very flakey in his reporting of late (he's written twice now that Ahmad Brooks was arrested, for example) but I certainly hope he is right about this item
rwalling
Can you say Frostee and Eric fighting for the same roster spot? Good!
mgilgris
Hopefully Marvin has realized that he was an idiot and will stop moving players from their college positions and experimenting with them in other positions.
TJJackson
Can you say Frostee and Eric fighting for the same roster spot? Good!It may come down to health - despite the fact that I despise the Slowman, I have to admit that neither player has managed to stay healthyI am pulling for Henderson and it ain't even close :-)
HAPPYJAQ
That should be an interesting camp battle. The Bengals believe that Frostee can play inside, too, so he probably has the edge. I thought he played well in limited action last year. Does anyone know if either player is eligible for the practice squad?

skyline
Hobs mentioned the move as well and said that the coaches feel he has a better chance to make the team as an end than at linebacker. It's an interesting comment, since the Bengals only keep 4 ends. The guys in serious contention for th 4 spots are Odom and Geathers (locks) followed by Rucker, Fanene, and Henderson. I figure Fanene will be in since he can also play tackle. They like versatile players. So, can we safely assume that Rucker and Henderson will battle it out for the last spot? TJJackson
There's also the UDCFA DEs with an outside shot, but yeah, it'd be Henderson vs Rucker - and because both have had health issues, there is a better than average chance it could come down to which one is healthy at the end of training camp

Kazkal
Wasn't DeMarcus Ware a college end? Their have been plenty of successful players who've made the transition ya hasn't worked out but really shouldn't matter because it looks like brooks is the SLB of the future and if he isn't ready to go then it will be jeanty who was undersized for end in the nfl so the switch made sense. Walrus
As the effects of the Thurman cut ripple out, could that influence Henderson's supposed move to DE?
mgilgris
Who the heck cares if it can be done on other teams.... it hasnt been done in our organization. I agree that some players can be moved around, BUT i do not believe and have never seen this coaching staff change anyone. Maybe I will be proven wrong with the new LB's coach from Baltimore but as of yet they have all been failures. I think the failure to mold players into other positions is their lack of scouts to actually know the players abilities. Regardless, if another team can mold a player into another position does not really have an effect on the bengals Inability to do it.
