kingwilly
1st Round 1 Miami - Jake Long OT - Far more important to long term success of Parcell's reign than a DE 2 St. Louis - Chris Long DE - immediately makes STL a much better team 3 Atlanta - Matt Ryan QB - buries the memory of Vick, franchise can now move on. 4 Oakland - Vernon Ghoslton DE - wanted Chris Long but will settle for what could be best athlete in draft 5 Kansas City - Glen Dorsey DT - immediate starter with immediate impact. 6 New York Jets - Darren McFadden RB - takes pressure off whoever will be their starting QB. 7 New England (from San Francisco) - Leodis McKelvin CB - assures def backfield is reloaded 8 Baltimore - Ryan Clady OT - Need to get Oline back up to NFL standards. 9 Cincinnati - Sedrick Ellis DT - no brainer. 10 New Orleans - Rogers-Cromartie upgrades weak DB's 11 Buffalo - Aqib Talib CB- need DB's and bad...WR could also go here 12 Denver - R. Mendenhall RB - Denver needs to give Cutler a serious RB to take off the pressure. 13 Carolina - Brian Brohm QB - wild speculation on my part with this pick but Delhomme is in decline. Brohm could be future at Carolina 14 Chicago - J. Stewart RB - Benson experiment is about over and you need a guy to be ready to come in a produce. 15 Detroit - Philip Merling DE - with the 3 best RB's off the board they go D with 16 Arizona - Keith Rivers LB - handlily reloads the LB spot that saw mass exodus in FA. 17 Minnesota - Quentin Groves DE - Need depth at DE. Need to get to QB's. 18 Houston - Jeff Otah OT - with Schaub and Andre Johnson, they need to get time. 19 Philadelphia - Malcolm Kelly WR - need a WR who can be #1. 20 Tampa Bay - Limas Sweed WR - also need a #1 WR 21 Washington - Kentwan Balmer DT - need more D-line depth 22 Dallas (from Cleveland) - Derrick Harvey - versatile DE 23 Pittsburgh - Kenny Phillips S - perfect Ying-Yang with Polamalu 24 Tennessee - Reggie Smith CB - bolsters terrible secondary 25 Seattle - Chris Williams OT - solid depth to step up as Jones' replacement 26 Jacksonville - DeSen Jackson WR - need WR depth with speed. 27 San Diego - Calais Campbell DE - perfect fit for SD 3-4 schemes 28 Dallas - Mike Jenkins CB - high skill player adds CB depth 29 San Francisco (from Indianapolis) - Gosder Cherilius OT - Smith looks like a Carr repeat but at least some blame can be due to O-line. 30 Green Bay - Brandon Flowers CB - Woodson can't play at a high-level too much longer...need a CB who can be ready. x -New England (pick forfeited due to cheating) 31 New York Giants - Dan Conner LB - LB depth is concern, Conner helps solve issue.////////Bengals r2-r72. Mario Manningham WR - needed as insurance against CJ and Henry having any further issues. Andre Caldwell another good option.3a. Pat Sims - DT - position that needs most help, with the impending Thortnon release. serious depth needed.3b. Chris Ellis - DE - taking another DE is an admission that Rucker was a bad choice4. Ezra Butler - LB improves talent and depth over guys like the 3 M's (Manning , Maxwell, Mays) 5a. Kory Lichtensteiger - C....let's see someone win the starting job.5b. Chad Rinehart - G improves depth, opened BIG holes for Mendenhall.6. Mike Gibson T/G - will probably be taken higher as he is versatile. 7a. Tony Temple RB - serious sleeper. can produce, will push Rudi/Watson.7b. Darnell Terrell CB - big fast guy, poor mans (read Mike Brown) Cromartie. HoosierCat
Love the first four selections for the Bengals, but don't think Sims and Ellis will fall that far in the 3rd. Sims will go in the second; Elis may still be there for our mid-round third but not the comp IMO.I think Detroit at 15 goes with Harvey, not Merling, due to Merling's recent sports hernia issue. kingwilly
I concede they could be gone. I've seen them anywhere from early 2 to late 4, so I placed them firmly in r3. I'll roll the dice with these back-up picks for r3:r3aii: Kendall Langford - DE Hampton - might go higher, his cover as sleeper was blown.r3bii: Ahyyba Rubin - DT Iowa St. - freaking mauler.I think what is key to look at is there will be quite a few r2-3 RB's, QB's, WR's and CB's. There will be a big glut at these deeper positions and we will see some steals in r3/4.r2-3 guys like:QB'sFlaccoHenneWoodsonBootyBrennan RB'sFelix Jones Chris Johnson Jamaal Charles Ray Rice Kevin Smith Matt Forte Steve Slaton WR'SEarly Doucet James Hardy Andre Caldwell Mario Manningham Earl Bennett Donnie Avery Jordy Nelson CB'sAntoine Cason Tracy Porter Justin King Charles Godfrey Patrick Lee Terrell Thomas Tyvon Branch
DesperateDerelict
Very good draft, your majesty. You seem to be lighter in a few areas in the 1st round than most mocks: CB (Porter, Cason), WR (Thomas, Hardy), OL (Albert, Nicks, Baker), and DL (Jackson, Sims, Balmer). Since these dovetail with the deepest positions in te draft, it's very believable that teams would wait to fill these positions.I'd be very happy (i.e. surprised) if the Bengals drafted this way.
