Variety
Robertson will have to re-work his contract before getting traded, there is no way around it. Now that they have added Jenkins he's their backup NT. Plus they re-signed their other backup NT (Pouha). You don't pay your backup NT 10 million bucks. So it really looks like they want to trade him. And why would Robertson be against re-structuring his contract? If he stays there another season without getting a lot of snaps he will not get a good offer in free agency. So he better re-structure his contract right now and then get a long term deal once they trade him.

generaldreedle
Robertson is no better than what we already have. He is listed at only 317 lbs. on ESPN's website; he is not big enough to help our defense at the tackle position. I am tired of seeing ML try to fill our DT position with guys that are too light. That is why I was hoping/impressed with the Rodgers deal, I thought that ML might have finally learned his lesson as far as small DTs are concerned. Hopefully he says no to a Robertson trade.Big Fat Sam Adams didn't work out so well either. Plain and simple, big or small, you gotta have talentYes, but I think the fact that Adams was already over the hill when we signed him had more to do with his bad play than his weight. Also, when he was in his prime, he helped the Ravens win the Superbowl. So that shows he at least had the talent at one time.
HairOnFire
The roadblock that may stop a deal for Robertson is his current contract.Yep. Robertson is slated to make just under $10 million this year -- $6.8 million in salary and $3 million in a June roster bonus. And he's only signed through next year, so I doubt he's in any hurry to take a big pay cut and extend his deal. The Bengals would have to either eat a huge $9.8 million cap charge, and then decide whether to offer him a long-term deal next year -- or just back the Brink's truck up to his door now.In short, it looks like the cost of Robertson would be a 3rd and a 5th and $10 million (minimum). That's pretty damn steep. I can't see it. It might be tempting to make a quick move for Robertson to help everyone put the Rogers story behind them, but IMHO the best plan moving forward is the exact same one I had at the start. That being, put away whatever offensive dreams you had in regards to the draft, and commit yourself to building the defense through the draft. The worst thing the Cats could do is jump on some mediocre player or sign some cap-stifling deal just to get over the Rogers debacle.Sometimes patience is a virtue. Pidge
I think Odom could be a good pickup though. Although it's risky, especially if the DT situation isn't sorted out in the draft.

Even just as a rotational guy, he could be valuable for us. It went to s**t so quickly from just a couple of years ago.
