DDOGG
Realistic prediction for the Bengals.. Well, there are variables… So many infact that they can be grouped into two variables, Good D or Poor D. With Good D… let me see the sked… Okay, AFC North, with Good D… We’ll say split with the Steelers and sweep the Browns and the Ravens… that’s 5-1 right there. Home games: Jags goes 50/50 like every year… Titans is a W… Eagles will be in turmoil this year, W… Skins are confused and their coaching staff will be so in up that they will totally suck this year as compared to last year, and another W. Chiefs will have a semi decent year and because it’s a home game we’ll call it 50/50. Count them up… 4 wins at home. Not a bad estimate, 1 loss… optimistic here though. We’re looking to the road now… Texans are perennial favorites to lead the draft, W… Colts at home L… Cowboys at home can really be either way with about a 25% chance the Bengals win. Giants I can’t call yet because of what they will do in the offseason and if Strahan comes back, we’ll go 50/50 with a larger 50 on the L side. Jets will be another hard one to call, but I think the Bengals are better than them with the stance of what free agents they are losing, call it a W. Count that up… Call it either 3-2 or 2-3, since we’re talking good d, we’ll go with 3-2 this time. So, optimistically we have 12-4 by my estimates +/- 2 on either side, so worst they will be is 10-6 if they have a good D. All mathematically.Okay, poor D… AFC North goes to 3-3 right off the bat. Still will sweep the Ravens, and will be swept by one of the other two teams, probably Pittsburgh and add a win for the Browns… Jags, titans, eagles, skins, chiefs goes like this L – 50/50, 50/50, L, L which gives us a 1-4 home record, away (Texans, Colts, Cowboys, Giants, Jets) W, L, L, L, W which is 2-3 on the road Firm. Giving us a full record of about 7-9 (that sounds familiar.) Give it again, that error of +/- 2, being NFL, and maybe they pull off 9-7 if some teams fail to bring it or finish as low as 5-11.Defense.We have heard it a million times, Offense sells tickets, Defense wins championships. Their Offense has sold a LOT of tickets, now we need the D to do their side. I don’t think I can stress enough the importance of the FA market this year. They are out there. Veterans, not so veterans. Justin will be a big hit. Unfortunate. He did have an off year, but I still think he’s good. I’ve always like Madieu Williams. Right there, on a struggling Defense the first thing you lose is two of the better players on it. If that happens, they need to pick up players at those positions. Oddly, analysts all over the NFL are talking about them as tops in their positions… That’s a bit depressing for the Bengals to lose them, but then again, I’ve said before I think we need to have faith that the inside of the Bengals organization knows more than I do, dude that just wants to watch the games, and trust that if they need to go, then that’s what happens.
