HoosierCat
http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6663I wouldn't have bothered with Fitz, either, but can't complain.
BengalByTheBay
http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6663I wouldn't have bothered with Fitz, either, but can't complain.I would've tendered to tab and not fitz, but that being mainly dependent on whether the hip injury is really healed or not. If there's any indication of it still being a problem, they made the right decision. As for fitz, meh, doesn't get me too worked up either way. AMC
You gotta see Rowe as the long-term backup at QB...Fitz gives you depth....Tab is an interesting situation, but his last contribution was in 2005.Keift was never really a Bengal. Could have used him for depth if healthy, but.....At least one OT will be drafted. I predict 2.....

I predict 2.....I think Whitworth is a RFA next year, Stacy will be a UFA next year, so the Bengals will definitely get some Olinemen. I hear the draft is fairly deep in Olinemen so thats nice. I wouldn't put it past them to pick a top Olinemen in round 1 if the top dline guys are gone. In that case though, no worthy dlinemen, I'd see about a fine RB such as Stewart or Mendenhall, but never McFadden.
HairOnFire
I wouldn't have bothered with Fitz, either, but can't complain. It's hard to say without knowing how much he's still in their plans as the Jordan Palmer signing kinda muddied he water on that point. However, it's possible the Bengals are simply doing what is needed to pocket a 7th round pick, as Fitz is good enough to get an offer from another team if he shops himself around, and the price of a 7th round pick isn't enough to scare anyone away. HoosierCat
An addenda from Curnutt on the ERFA front:The Bengals this afternoon announced that third-year players Glenn Holt, Rashad Jeanty and Corey Mays have been offered one-year tenders. Running back Dan Burks was not tendered.
HairOnFire
Dan Burks? Without even a hint of shame I openly admit to all of cyberspace that I have no idea who this man is OR that he was ever a Bengal. Who-Dat?

Who-Dat?I was just pleased to have remembered that Corey Mays plays LB. I think Burks was the team accountant.
