HoosierCat
per curnutte...Safety Herana-Daze Jones, an exclusive-rights free agent, signed a one-year contract today with the Bengals. He led special teams with 18 tackles in 2007, despite missing seven games with a knee injury that ended his season on the injured reserve list. HairOnFire
A move that won't get much attention, but hopefully shows that last seasons bleeding of special teams talent was a one-year thing and won't be repeated. As for Jones, nice story of an UDFA earning a spot and sticking around for at least 3 or 4 years. Sadly, I think the knee injury occured just as HDJ was beginning to earn some reps with the defense. Hard to say if he'll get another chance now.
Pidge
Will Dhani also re-sign? I hope so. Would be great depth at the very least and most likely will be our best starting LB again.
Kazkal
All reports on Dhani Sounded good, As for HDJ...seems like a contract they offer to a guy they expect to get beat for spot but keep him around in case of injury... with the Canadian ace,Kilmer and the 2 young safety's plus busing and hopefully return of madieu. the backup's will have to fight tooth and nail for a spot. Jones, Kilmer, Canada, Busing, White, Nuke, Williams... There's a lot of hope there. The jones signing is great for special teams. Pair him with the other guys above and we should have good coverage on ST... I just think the Bengals should spend a decent amount of $$$ on a FA safety this offseason. Its the one position in our secondary that needs filled the most. If that means you gotta let Madieu/Dexter go, let him go.
