jjakq27
Now that the draft is over, we have moved Dillon, restructured Kitna, and added Larry Moore and Kurt Kittner, what other significant changes can we expect before training camp? I know people keep talking about Daryl Gardner becoming a Bengal after June 1 but I wonder who the Bengals are going to release on that date? Is there anyone else out there that we might pick up? What else do we really need?
Twurksum10
Doesnt appear to be anyone left we can pick up out there. I think the next step is cuts, A Ross, T. Williams? and then see what the rookies can do. Until they have a good feel of what everyone we signed can do I dont see us making many moves. There may be some signings of some early cuts though, but we gotta see who other teams let go first.
Chad Johnson
Adrian Rosss is a good player and won't get cuterrr at least i hope :player:
turningpoint
no way Ross will be staying, he's our double back up, if hardy gets hurt he takes hardy's spot. If webster gets hurt hardy will probably move back to middle and ross wilp lay hardy position. Also I think Tony Williams will stay with us, but who the hell knows. I know we can plug thorton in as on of our startings DT's. And i think gardner and williams will be sharing time, and i think askew will have limited play as he learns and is groomed behind these veteran DT's. i think this will be our 4 dt's on the opening day roster. Twurksum10
Sorry A. Ross is a likeable aswsome guy, but he is a big slow linebacker. We also have three ingrained starters Webster, Hardy, Simmons. And Three young backups all drafted by Lewis in Abdullah, Miller, and Johnson. Plus Ross is coming off being hurt, and he plain just doesnt fit in Marvin and Leslie's system. And our four starting DT's will be Thornton, Gardner, Askew and Langston Moore. Remember all that talk about players having to play in there second year, and start to come on. Well I think thats what keeps the low salaried Moore on over the more pricey Williams. KiLBurn
I agree that Adrian Ross will not be on the team come regular season. Ross got burned all year long. He and Hawkins were on the same page in my book last year. Tony Williams would also seem to be under the microscope. IF Gardner comes to Cincinnati on June the 2nd, I expect Williams to be cut the same day.
jjakq27
June 1st is next Tuesday. Is Daryl Gardner a done deal? Anybody else on their way out of here?
denverbengal
June 1st is next Tuesday. Is Daryl Gardner a done deal? Anybody else on their way out of here?I don't know if Gardener is a done deal, but I did come across this little blurb while reading an article about Skip Hicks on Bengals.com today. It mentions his agent...Neil Schwartz. "Schwartz is also the agent for Broncos defensive tackle Daryl Gardener, reportedly set to sign a deal with the Bengals next week."It sounds like it's going to happen, but after we passed on Sapp, I'm not believing anything until the contract is signed. He did do one thing while in Denver. He managed to break his hand on some guy's face in an IHOP parking lot before the season even started. I think if we get him at league minimum and Marvin is able to sit on him, and get his attitude in check (like he did in D.C.) he'll be worth it, but ONLY at league minimum or somewhere close to that. The key will be the incentives in his contract that will give him a reason to behave and perform.
JPW
Gardner and the Bengals have agreed to a contract. It just isn't offical till Denver cuts him on June 1st.Personally I think he will be a great addition. The guy is a beast on the DL and has great work habits. And the DL is an area we needed to improve.Yea he has had an injury and some off field problems. But he will be getting a new lease on his Football life with The Bengals and ML.Good pick up.Play Offs in 04 ..... ntpou
I have to aggree he is going to be a good addition to our team I think he 'll be a monster. I've been telling erveryone you can't win the lottery if you don't play. We need to try one of these players that have a huge upside & get them cheap. :player:
