Passing on Gamble

The Enquirer has an article about Gamble scoring a 9 on his Wunderlic ( sp ?) test. Gambles explantion for the low score was that " I thought we had to finish the whole thing " ....

Which in part, goes a long way towards explaining why he got the 9 in the first place.

Between that and the slow 40 time, it's a lot easier to understand why coach Lewis wasn't that impressed when he met him. Rumor has it that the 1st meeting got off to a slow start when Gamble said "hi coach I'm " .. and then had to look at his student id before giving his name. It got worse when while running a slow 40 that coach Lewis overheard Gamble saying " left foot ... right foot ... left foot .... right foot... " I can see where that would slow you down.

Any way his new gm says he isn't concerned about the low test score, and that " there are a lot of reasons why guys score low." Yeah I guess, but the number 1 reason is still that they're stupid. B)

Good call coach.

On the day after the draft, I read, on the Bengal's web site, that they Almost did pick Gamble rather than Perry.

That would have most likely led to taking a RB with one of the round 2 picks.

Only time will tell if we made the right move.

Gamble sure has the tools to be a shut down corner.

But when you look at the other factors, picking Gamble would have been.....well it would have been a "gamble".

Gamble has draft bust written all over him....We were in no postion to waste the pick on someone that won't contribute this year at all, and Gamble won't help the Panthers....Plus he get's to learn from Toast, so yeah, he's doomed....

Gamble is dumb as dirt, and to top it off doesn't know how to play corner. People drooled over his height, cause almost every other DB in the draft was under 6', but the simple fact of the matter is he was overated...If he had of been at a smaller school, or on inch or so shorter he would have been at best a 4th rounder. He does have an upside, but the risk is just so high that he'll be a bust it wasn't worth it and I was so relieved that the team didn't draft him.

whose to say he didn't do this on purpose. I mean a hell of a lot of people had him penciled in as the bengals draft pick, myabe he purposely acted dumb in order to sway Marvin away from drafting him. I mean who the f**k forgets there name?
