Bobcat Bengal
The more I read about this draft stuff, and the more comments I hear from Coach Lewis, the more I'm excited. "I don't think anybody in the NFL cares what the 'experts' say," he saysand he also says "They don't have to coach them," Lewis said of media draft pundits. "A year from now, it really won't matter what they said this year, will it?" I think Coach Lewis and crew are looking at ALL factors....Keiwan Ratliff started at a big time school, big time conference, and led the SEC w/ 9 picks. Kevin Coyle likes his smarts and intelligence, works for me. The dude will start sometime soon....hell definitely contribute sooner than later....Chris Perry is an all around back, and has more all around skills than Jones or Jackson. With some work, hell just refine his all around game. The Bengals had Perry rated highest among running backs, and Lewis said Perry's talents best fit the Bengals' offense. Ditto about starting...Madieu Williams hits like a SS, covers like a FS, which is CRITICAL now in our division, trust me. Our rivals both have game breaking TE's now.Don't know much about the LB's but I'm definitely not gonna criticize Coach Lewis' evaluation of LB's. Personally, I can't wait to see Webster in action. I hope we get a Terry Tate mofo smashing fools.Askew and Andrews were steals, as was Brooks. Coach Lewis' reasons for drafting these players makes sense, and he has a plan, and isn't deviating from it.Personally, I'm estatic....can't wait for the season to start.Who-Dey! :player:
jjakq27
Don't forget about LB Landon Johnson. Anybody nicknamed Silent Assasin is OK in my book.No more Reinard Wilsons....please!

JPW
Keiwan Ratliff was the SEC's Defensive Player of The Year.Which is no small feat.He was only the 3rd Gator to win it, along with Jevon Kearse (1998) and Alex Brown (2001).Play Offs in 04... Northwest Bengal
The simple truth is that the greatest ingredient to a successful draft is the ability of the coaching staff to "coach them up". For the first time truly since Paul Brown, we have, not only a superior head coach, but a staff of coordinators and position coaches that know what they are doing. Most of the picks in this draft were not what I would have guessed. But I have a lot of confidence that Marvin knows who he can teach and how much he can get out of them. I think,in years to come, we will come to realize that what we got out of this draft was a bunch of "coaches on the field". That will win you championships! JPW
Yea, it is time to just forget about whatever any of us may have thought about the Draft. It is time for all of us to see the Best in the Players that we did get.And yea, that was a Great line by ML about the experts "They don't have to coach them".There are a lot of good players that we have picked up in the Draft and in FA.And I fully expect that ML & Co. will "coach them up" and "fit" them into the Team. There will be more cuts and pick ups before the season starts. And I am sure that ML will do a Find job with that to.The Plan is On Track.AFC North Champs in 04 ! redsfan2
Enquirer noted in a column that we could be starting 6 new guys on the team this year. That is in addition to the new guys we started last year. It's going to take these guys a while to gel. I still expect the team to do better, but a rocky start won't shock me ........ or discourage me either. The one thing that may help out is that there isn't a lot of film of Palmer for the dc's to look at when the prepare for the Bengals. That could work in his favor for a couple of weeks while he's getting some ojt. I accept the "plan" theory, but think '05 is more realisitic. Rome wasn't built in a day and the New Bengals won't be either.Cautiously and realistically optimistic

O-Lineman, Stacy Andrews? yeah, thats real nice...Maurice Mann, another WR with speed. And actually, theyre revamping that defense, so they can give the ball to Palmer again.I won't be shocked to not see Palmer put up big numbers initially. I just want to watch his initial growth. I think you are absolutely right.Palmer will feel the pressure of course, in his new role as starting QB. But there has definately been a move to ease him into this role, from letting him take a year to learn his leadership role from Kitna, tobringing inan outstanding running duo :player:
