jjakq27
Another goofy call by the refs in that one. I don't think it would have mattered in the outcome of the game but the receiver for the Niners caught the ball at the Steeler 10. He was hit just as he caught it and was flipped over and his shoulder hit the ground. The ball popped out when he hit the ground and the Steeler DB caught it and ran with it for a good distance. They reviewed it and the announcer said that it would either be a catch or a fumble. The ref came back and said it was incomplete because he didn't get both feet down. I don't understand that one at all, just like the Hasselbeck play. The Niners settled for a FG on that drive rather than having first and goal. The ball never once touched the ground. It either had to be an interception, or, what Moose Johnson said it was (and I agree with him) - a completion at the Steeler 10 as the receiver was down by contact. How a professional NFL referee can watch that replay several times and come to the conclusion that it was an incomplete pass is beyond me. Like you said, though, I doubt it would've changed the outcome of the game. But that sure was an embarrassingly bad call.
