ntpou
Perry will be a solid back. But there was too much talent on the board to take him. We could have got a good one in the 4th or even the 3rd. This was a REACH for us. Another question I have why didn't we go after R.Starks or A.Odom with our 2b or 3a picks. overall a solid draft but could have been better
chrishcovga
Yeah, A.Odom at # 56 would have been a steal if you ask me ! I like Madieu Williams, but he's a better pick in round 3. - and if you miss him, how much does it hurt when you have 4 - safeties under contract for the next 3 years..?? volcom69
none that fast though and with the tight ends in our division u better get some speed with our safties he was the fastest one there and the best covering guys i read that so i love that pick. chrishcovga
Sean Jones is bigger, with very comparable speed !!.. Better college production as well Against better SEC teams. The ACC basically had to be annexed by the Big East !Sean Jones.....http://www.nflfans.com/draft/2004/showplayer.php?key=Sean Jones*Madieu Williams......http://www.nflfans.com/draft/2004/showplayer.php?key=Madieu Williams

While draft boards and combine stats (which have no reflection on how a player performs) pick players above him, obviously the Bengals thought Perry helps this team out the most. I mean, did you hear Jim Anderson's comments on what he saw in Perry? How do you go against a guy that has for years developed very good running backs??? volcom69
dont u think williams will be faster then our safties now so i think he can come in and maybe start or play nickel situations for us
chrishcovga
dont u think williams will be faster then our safties now so i think he can come in and maybe start or play nickel situations for us He has the ability to start only because Rogers Beckett and Kim Herring are "adequate" safeties at best. - All the more reason to get a " lights-out " guy like Sean Jones. * I would have been satisfied, if we would have drafted Derrick Strait and moved him to strong safety ala Cory Chavous. I think that's his best position in the nfl.
williamnminor
Williams is solid. We needed an early running back to back up and spell Rudi, or else we were screwed. Trust me, Perry comes from a pro styled offense at Michigan, he will be able to step in and do fine right away when we need him.
ntpou
We could have gotten a impact player on the def. & still got a good RB in the 3 or 4th. I like Perry but we didn't even give S.Hicks or K.Watson a chance. Remember RUDI was taken in the 4th
Kirkendall
We could have gotten a impact player on the def. & still got a good RB in the 3 or 4th.How do you know we didn't get an impact player? How do you know Perry won't be the next Holmes or if Ratliff won't be the next big time shut down corner? I think we have to wait before we can already start saying these players aren't going to impact this team; they were drafted for a reason. I like Perry but we didn't even give S.Hicks or K.Watson a chance.Hicks has had 6 seasons in the NFL. He's done nothing. Sure he's playing well in NFL Europe but a majority of those players are either fighting to get a roster in the NFL at all, or trying to get the NFL to take notice. I like Watson, but he couldn't even beat out Brandon Bennett last season.
chrishcovga
Hey the guys I like the most were, Cedric Cobbs, Mewelde Moore, and Derrick Ward. And for that "stat" guy... Ward ran for over 2200 yards last year. And 28 touchdowns. He ran a 4.49, and he was a late round draft pick. Cobbs was a dominant runner with the same size and quickness as Perry in the SEC West. Mewelde Moore was considered a great pick because he does so many things on the football field. Run, catch, block, special teams, returns, etc.. and he went into the 4th round. * There is always running back value later in the draft. I would hope that Perry beats out Rudi, and the offense gets built around him, because he does have the ability to be a "Priest Holmes".
