agreen_112
I started a thread a couple of months ago about this topic, and thought I'd create a new one after seeing this article: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/ne...mp;lid=tab7pos2It looks like we will possibly see a crossover sometime in the near future. I hope one of these UFC fighters will eventually get a contract to make some real money so that we can see how tough they really would be in a ring. I still think a top ranked boxer would destroy a UFC contender in the sqaure ring with gloves. In the octagon, it could go either way but if the boxer was properly trained, I think he would come out on top.
agreen_112
I liked what this guy had to say: "Personally I'll take the expertise of boxing over the jack of all trades master of none of MMA."

In the ring the boxer will have an advantage, and that advantage is the UFC fighter would be barred by the rules from using the majority of his weapons. (Kicks, elbows, knees, etc.) Destroy? No. Win. Likely. Knock out? Small possibilityIn the octagon, I seriously don't see any boxer leaving upright and conscious. In a street fight with no refs to stop the brawl, I don't see the boxer getting out alive.
bengalboomer7
s a kid, I took boxing lessons. My dad was a gold glove boxer in the Army and I love both boxing and UFC. Just recently, I started screwing around with a Jujitsu class, which by the way, is extrememly fun. There's a lot more to it than I thought. There are a lot of similarities and differences and I still can't pick which was is tougher. I think it would all depend on w3hich rules were used.
