I read that this morning.

I can understand why he did it, but the whole thing bothers me a bit on many levels.

In general, I'm against books like this. I hate seeing people air all kinds of dirty laundry all in the name of making a buck.

I support it. What you might call dirty laundry I'd call hard truth, and anything that exposes the real truth about the NFL is fair game.

Frankly, I've been a fan of the NFL for more than 4 decades, but I can do without the whitewashed image. And while I appreciate the huge sums of money that could be lost if people knew everything that goes on....this isn't Disney entertainment.

If he were uncovering sinister NFL plots and issues that needed to be addressed, then I'd agree. You could argue that the way the NFL treats injured players is unfair, but that's hardly anything new. What I'm really referring to here are Bettis' accusations about Kordell Stewart not getting a fair shake, Tommy Maddox possibly not having earned a job as starter, etc., etc.

None of the information he's releasing is anything that's going to spur productive change within the NFL. It's just the usual doubts and disagreements that would occur within any family or organization. The only thing being gained by his "telling all" is money.

But whatever...I'm not being forced to buy the book, so I'll just shrug my shoulders and carry on.
