BengalszoneBilly Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 From Yahoo Sports:Frye wins toss, starts against Chiefs August 11, 2007CLEVELAND (AP) -- Charlie Frye's first victory of 2007 for the Cleveland Browns came off the field. Frye won a coin toss against Derek Anderson and will start Saturday's exhibition opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. Frye and Anderson are pitted in a tight competition to be Cleveland's No. 1 quarterback and start in the season opener on Sept. 9 against Pittsburgh. Browns coach Romeo Crennel felt the fairest way to decide his preseason starter was to flip a coin, and the toss took place a few hours before kickoff. Crennel also wanted to see how the winner reacted to the late news that he was starting. The two QBs were expected to alternate series in the first half and both would see some time in the second half. Crennel said that rookie Brady Quinn, who ended a lengthy contract holdout earlier this week by signing a $20.2 million deal, would only get a few late snaps. What's weird is I think their best QB won the toss! 711chad Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 flipping a coin is stupid...one had to play a slight better than the other so far in camp Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Wow, you gotta be an idiot to admit this, especially since's Romeo's job is on the line Quote
jjakq27 Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Wonder what the odds were on that coin flip? I'm sure there was a line somewhere on that one. Quote
The PatternMaster Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Wow, you gotta be an idiot to admit this, especially since's Romeo's job is on the linemy thoughts exactly, maybe Crennel wants out of Cleveland so he leaks this to the press. Either way this doesn't look good for him, if that is how you make important decisions then that's pitiful. Crennel should have known better and come Jan this will be one of the reasons why he's let go, besides the fact that the Browns suck. Quote

DesperateDerelict Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 from the Dayton Daily News . . . Cleveland QB loser will be goneLink here: Yahoo SourceAccording to a Cleveland radio station, the loser of the Cleveland Browns quarterback derby between Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson will be traded or released. Frye appears to have the edge right now based on his slightly better performance during training camp and in the first preseason gameI think Anderson will make a great back-up for somebody Quote
