HairOnFire
I just caught Chad Johnson being interviewed on ESPNRadio. Here are the highlites...loosely quoted. Chad claimed that he has a new TD celebration planned for every game. "I've told Carson that I need at least one every week or something great gets left on the shelf." Chad repeated his rant that last season wasn't any fun for him due to being asked to tone down his act. Thus, he promises a return to the "Old Chad" who openly challenged a DB every week. When the interviewer, John Seibol (Sp?), openly wondered if that was wise considering the opener was against the Ravens Chad responded..."They're gonna get a mouthfull all week long." When asked about how Marvin Lewis is likely to respond Chad claimed...."Marvin says the stuff that a head coach has to say, but inside he's laughing." Chad claimed that the Bengals offense SHOULD be the #1 ranked in the NFL simply because...."We go three deep everywhere. Most teams can only brag of having one or two guys at a couple of spots, but we go three deep everywhere." When asked what he said to Lewis about last seasons storm of arrests Chad responded...."Nothing. I didn't say a word. It's not my place." When it was mentioned that several other Bengal players were rumored to have approached Lewis about the need for more discipline Chad said that it isn't his role to make or suggest team policy, and added that keeping himself out of trouble was hard enough, not because he puts himself in awkward situations, but simply because things can happen. On the impact of the arrests Chad said flatly..."It's no fun around here. There's a midnight curfew for Bengal players and if the coaches find out you're out later than that you won't start the next game." Chad expressed doubts that players from any other team were watched as closely. Asked about his goals for this season Chad answered..."From Arizona to Hawaii." Finally, Chad was asked about the horse racing stunt and said that it was part of a series of planned charity events that include an exibition boxing match against Floyd Mayweather, something with LeBron James, and of course....NASCAR. Chad also said that every year in March he travels to Africa for two or three weeks to help a charity fighting childrens hunger.
