BengalszoneBilly Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 If you're an old school driver, and don't produce something once in a while, you can expect THIS real soon! Quote
kenyon1977 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 The owner of Ginn racing is younger and new to the sport. I don't blame him, if you're not winning with the old guys I'd start every rookie I could get my hands on until I found the next JR or Gordon, or at least someone with some personality and fire. Kirkendall Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 I say this is a good move by Ginn. First of all, you guys stated the obvious, younger drivers are in prime position -- because of their age -- to gain sponsorship. Marlin has already discussed cutting his schedule back in 2008 and there's no reason to keep Front Row Joe if the team can't pick up sponsorship. That said, I think Almirola and Smith are good young drivers that will do well under the mentorship of Mark Martin. ...and I suspect this will have something to do with a DEI/Ginn merger... possibly. kenyon1977 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Ginn is a multiple business owner and owns a Casino/Hotel so why doesn't he sponser his own teams? Quote

And he did sponsor his own teams on the #13. ...and on two Busch teams -- the 4 and 04. I think Ginn is finding out difficult this sport is without sponsorship. Quote

BengalszoneBilly Posted July 24, 2007 Author Report Posted July 24, 2007 He should get rid of trying to build his own engines and what have ya and just rent everything.Rent? I've rented quite a few cars in my day from a number of national rental car companies located at airports throughout this country. Mostly compacts and sub-compacts, with the occasional 4-door sedan and V-8 Ford Mustang GTs. But I must admit I've never seen any them have race ready "Cup" cars offered on any brochure! Of course I'm being a tad sarcastic, but as far as the larger, engine building, multi-car teams, you would typically request to enter into a contract to have their experienced and highly skilled engine shop people prep your engines for each individual race, which to my knowlege they normally don't rent those either. (Actually "loaning" engines to friendy, same manufacturer teams in a pinch seems to be the Nascar way that I've seen happen most commonly.) To my knowlege you deliver to them in advance your serviceable "core" which they rebuild to their specs for a predetermined cost that you contracted with them. Quote
Kirkendall Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 Actually Ginn does run Hendricks motors. Their chassis are in-house though... that's from an old MB2/Henricks partnership. Quote
