Kirkendall
I quit paying attention to the draft analysis after it became clear that the consensus was basically, "the Bengals had a good draft but get a 'C' because it wasn't 'sexy' enough." Maybe they should have drafted the Playmate of the Year or something...Wasn't there once a wise man that said you need to wait at least three years before judging a team's draft? Suddenly the Nostradamus wannabes find solace in writing dead fodder (i.e., really really bored, so let's over analyze unproven commodities)

Bobcat Bengal
The Irons pick in the 2nd round surprised everyone, if your telling me you expected the Bengals to take a rb in the 2nd round of the draft then I'll tell you your a liar. The Jeff Rowe selection was also surprising for most people as many people thought they could have waited until a later round and still selected him or even taken a better prospect at that selection. Rowe has the physical tools to be successful in the NFL he just needs to be coached up, alot.At that point in the draft, yes, I expected them to take Brian Leonard, actually.Lamarr Woodley and Justin Durant were gone, so......Versatile RB, good character, and Greg Seamon had a hard on for him during that Bengals Pre-Draft show.I figured Seamon would put himself on the line and take a risk, and really rally hard for him.Duke Tobin was also kinda giddy about the QB class this year.Reading between the lines, those two picks (QB and RB) didn't suprise me THAT much at all. HairOnFire
Wasn't there once a wise man that said you need to wait at least three years before judging a team's draft? Suddenly the Nostradamus wannabes find solace in writing dead fodder (i.e., really really bored, so let's over analyze unproven commodities) True, but the criticism found in the original draft analysis is based upon the very reasons why two players were drafted, as if there was no need or advantage in drafting backups at RB and QB. On the surface that seems like poor analysis to me, and in my opinion it only gets worse the closer you look. So there doesn't seem to be a need to wait three years before debating whether there was merit in the draft strategy, since you're not debating whether the strategy paid off, but why it was attempted in the first place.
