Vick, for example, just lost an endorsement deal thanks to all the bad pub over the dog fight thing -- which at this point remains nothing but headlines. In short, this is Jack and the Beanstalk, not Don Quixote.

Your presumption is pure poo, as I've never claimed the above. However, let me clarify for those of you who aren't familiar with firespeak.

Grandstanding - A showing display or act meant to impress onlookers, but more often than not meant to intentionally mislead with grand and sweeping gestures that distract the viewers attention from how little is actually being accomplished.

Window Dressing - The act of putting your best attributes on display so prominent that casual observers can see what you most want them to see without ever coming inside.

Smoke shoveling - The act of furiously attempting to perform a task that can never be accomplished. Pointless, the act is performed soley because some onlookers will be impressed by how much effort was wasted.

Tilting at Windmills - The act of attacking evil symbolically but totally ineffectively. The warrior in question may no doubt be earnest and brave, but sadly is also insane, and as a result his efforts are hopelessly besotted and beshidded.
