Don’t get sucked in Marvin

I wish Marvin hadn't apologized.

It's not his fault that people assumed he meant something other than what he actually said, so I would have preferred it if he clarified his remarks and let it go at that.

That said, if anyone needed proof of how unfairy fugged up things have become all you have to do is remind yourself that we're slogging through another media storm despite the fact that Chris Henry passed another drug test.

I know this guy Edmonson. He used to be a neighbor and I went to school with his kids. He always had MAJOR political aspirations for all of the wrong reasons - namely he is a total douche-bag and has developed a taste for power to compensate for the fact that he's a little man. He was the kind of guy who would yell at the neighborhood kids for walking on his lawn.

How about some left-coast love?

They just kicked the profiling issue around on ESPNRadio's Los Angeles based Demarco Farr/ Kevin Kiley Show. They opened with a recording of Marvin's apology and a quick recap of the Chris Henry mess. Then DeMarco Farr got the ball rolling.

"Marvin Lewis was absolutely wrong."

My heart sank, and I immediately considered how quickly I could get my body into a fetal position. Then Farr continued.

"Lewis was wrong because he never should have apologized for speaking the truth. Everything he said was absolutely true, and I'm fairly certain the only reason he apologized is due to pressure."

So of course, Kiley asked Farr who was pressuring Marvin.

Farr answered that too many people were quick to assume that Lewis was talking about racial profiling, which he clearly wasn't. Kiley basically responded with a hearty "so what?" Farr then claimed that nobody, from Marvin Lewis, the Bengals, or the NFL wants to engage in any debate about race.

Farr concluded that as odd as it may seem the apology is directed at the people who came to the wrong conclusion by assuming the profiling was race related. "He's apologizing to white people. The white people who got it wrong."

Farr went on to say that when he played for the St Louis Rams he lived in a predominantly white area named Chesterfield. He claimed that the police in that area were so resentful of the money that athletes made, black or white, that they would set traps for Ram players. "They knew your schedule. They knew the type of car you drove. They knew the routes you followed. And they'd wait for you."

Farr ended the rant by saying that he never experienced the same type of profiling while playing in California. "You buy a $50,000.00 car out here to blend in. You buy the same type of car back there to stand out. Some people resent it."

:lmao:
