chrishcovga
Last reported on Bengals.com was that he was about 85-90 % healthy following his surgery. He should be ready for Training camp , and maybe the May camps as well.- That report was like early March or late February !No guarantee that he'll be here this year anyways.. Marvin was quite adamant about improving our linebacking corps in the draft at mondays press conference.
Barbarian
Sorry guys, I hate to burst your bubble about Nate Webster--but the guy is going to get run-the-hell-over.Here's the stats on the Bungles new "run stopper":6'1, 225You're kidding right??? With NO BEEF in front of him??? If the Bungles don't draft a fatass in the 1st round, then there's going to be a BIGGER Hole in the middle of that defense than last year. Here's another thing--like every other Mike Brown signing--the guy has hardly played a down (other than special teams)!!!I'm not expecting much. Bengals.com has him listed at 6'0" 235.NFL.com lists Ray Lewis at 6"1" - 245.So that's a one inch and 10 pound difference between arguably the best MLB ever to play the game and one who's "going to get run the hell over," due to his lack of size. Somehow, I think I'll trust ML's judgement in assessing the talent of middle linebackers. If he thinks Webster is up to the task, then I trust him. Plus with ML's conditioning program, look for Webster to gain a few pounds...no bubbles burst here.As for playing time, let's face it...the Bucs had one of the best defenses in the league (if not ever) with depth at the linebacker position. Just because he didn't see that much playing time doesn't mean he's going to be a bust. It's all about what he did when he did get the chance...and that's kick a$$. denverbengal
The more I read about this guy, the more excited I am to see what he can do for the BENGALS. Here's what TB linebacker's coach Joe Barry said about him."Everyone sees this intense wild man. But the thing that Nate has that is overlooked a lot is, he has unbelievable linebacker instincts. He can decipher and read things very well. That gets overlooked because he's such a wild man. Nate is wild, and crazy and tough, but that's not why he's such a good linebacker. The reason he's so damn good is because he has such wonderful God-given instincts of a linebacker."And Pro Football Weekly."Webster is a playmaking machine who’s mean, ferocious and brings back memories of Ray Lewis."I think we picked up a winner. Yes I was at the Tampa Game. The Bucs really wanted to keep him and were disappointed when they lost him. He started 5 games for Shelton Quarles and was a special team player that was always in on plays. This guy didn't start for the Bucs cause they are stacked at LB.He is very much in the same kind of mold as Ray Lewis by motivating a team.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stat...ts?statsId=5119

williamnminor
Hey Barbarian, why don'y you relax. All I know is he received extremely high praise from Sapp, Brooks, and Gruden in Tampa. denverbengal
Yeah??? If that's the case, give me PROOF (a.k.a. STATS) THAT NATE WEBSTER CAN START AT MLB IN THE NFL--NOT A BUNCH OF ASSUMPTIONS. How about some proof that he CAN'T. So far all we've seen out of you are negative personal OPINIONS, and no real PROOF that Webster is going to suck. Has he done anything in the past to prove that he's not a high quality player? Were you at a Bucs game where he fell flat on his a$$ on a consistent basis? Or does everyone who hasn't started every game in their career in the NFL suck? Tiger claws
:player: Here's a little information on Nate Webster.Nickname MANSTER II, In 2003 started in 1st 5 games of the year for Tampa. HE had 17 tkl's 15 solo tkl's 1 sack 1fumble recovery and that is in just 5 game as a starter. His complete stat record starting from 2000 to 2003 : In 63 games both starting and non-statring , 63 games, 148 total tackles,98 solo,52 ast, 1 sack 4 pass def . I am as confident in Webster as I am in Marvin Lewis decision to take him. Daryl Gardner will prove to be more than enough beef on our defensive line and with Webster bearing down on the opposition, not to mention hardy and Brian Simmons closing off end runs, well let's just say the the opposition is going to look more like the BUNGLES than the BENGALS EVER DID . :player: :player: :player: :player:
