ArmyBengal Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2872514Well, the commish thinks it would be better to reduce the amount of time a team gets in the first round from 15 to 10 minutes. Then reducing the second round from 10 to 7 minutes. I don't know how that would effect the remaining rounds, but it appears he will run all of this by the owners (smart) even though he doesn't need to. Thoughts ??I'll tell you one thing, my days on the site during draft weekend would be MUCH shorter !!! WHODEY !!! Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 I see no problem with shortening the time on the first day, with all the tech advances in the recent past 10 minutes is a lot longer than it was in 1980. Quote
kurgan74 Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 I am all for it..15 minutes is a stretch...The other interesting rumor that I hear is the possibility of having the first round or the first half of the first round on Friday night, with the draft resuming on Saturday and Sunday. Quote

Interesting concept for sure. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted May 20, 2007 Author Report Posted May 20, 2007 Better make sure your scouting department is on point with it's evaluation of players or that 10 minutes could get ugly !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
HairOnFire Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 The real question is how much impact the shorter time period would have on trades. Advances in technology are all well and good but less time will have a direct impact on a teams ability to play one trade offer against another. Quote
Judge Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 I'm all for shortening the time, I don't think team's really need that much time to decide.-Judge Quote
Edogger Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 I am all for shortening the time. If you (teams) have done their homework. They should have it pretty much decided scenario wise which direct they want to go. This past draft was crazy. A team would make a trade so you knew they wanted someone, but would let the time almost expire before handing in their pick. The only thing I am leary about with this possible changes is the Friday primetime round one. They say this could create more viewers but I think this could destroy more relationships. Can you imagine telling your significant other you want to spend a Friday night (6:00pm to probably 11:00 or so). Don't get me wrong, I am planning a stay in the dog house to watch it! Quote

Get a TV in the kitchen so that she can watch it as too - she does the dishes, prepares your meals and cracks you a cold beer from the fridge whenever you tell her to. Quote
