BengalszoneBilly
Here's the scoop...I was helping a friend install a new DVD drive in their laptop, and when we powered it back up to load the drivers and check it out, I noticed his wireless card was picking up four or five open networks within range of my house! I was floored. We easily got online with no problems. I immediately rushed down to the nearest "Staples" and bought a $34 wireless Belkin network card, and BINGO! It worked just as well on my desktop! Evidently the network I tapped into is routed off a cable modem, so speed is no problemo. I'm happier than a person has the right to be ! skyline
I assume you're connecting to a neighbor's home network, right? The average person shouldn't be allowed to have a wireless connection. They have NO clue how to lock it down properly. We live in an apartment complex, and I can't tell you how many people in our building just expose their entire wireless network for the world to see. Maybe I should figure out how to use the protection thingy.

Having the network wide open is surely one thing, but what drives me even more nuts is when I discover folks have opened up file sharing on their home computers as well. When you add those things together, with the 'out-of-the-box' DHCP/IP assignments ... well, let's just say that I am telling you the truth when I say my 6 year old knows more than enough to be able to see everything on that computer. Oh well.

BengalszoneBilly
Congrats on scoring free broadband. All good things must come to an end. I recently moved into a new house on top of a mountain here in Prescott Arizona, and although the 100 mile views are fantastic......I lost my free broadband connection. No worries though, I was visited today by my friendly cable guy who hooked me up to a wicked fast cable modem, and I again have access to Bengalszone 24/7! Life again is good, but now I'm paying for it.
