JoePong
Umm...duh! Didn't everyone already know we're playing a 4-3? Hopefully this will end all the stupid talk about a 3-4 on this board. It was never a possibility.

cincy9275
3-4, 4-3 whatever it doesn't matter. i do not agree with him that we have everything in house to fix the defense. bresh is not the answer. we have no pass rush can't cover anyone. i just don't see this group with or without odell ever being a top defense. i hope and pray marvin is right. we'll see
mgilgris
Other interesting notes from the 18 minute interview:-WR BLOCKING was one of the reasons for Rudi's lack of runs greater than 10 yrds.-Players were worried about their next contract, which was one reason cited for lacking "professionalism" Which is no news but first i have heard of it for the lack of professionalism -Marvin also claims that character was always an important element in his draf prospect but "other people will have to be more mindful of it"Just wanted to give a short recap from the 18 minute video interview
Reimersfan88
Man, I can't imagine how hard it is to be an NFL head coach. Trying to keep players egos in check has got to make them lose a ton of sleep at night. Not like they sleep much to begin with.

ShulaSteakhouse
Nice job of skirting the whole 0-line issue Hobson.Only two positive things I read were that James is history (think that Pitt playoff-ending TD burned Marvin's a$$ bad I'm sure) and Odell still as a chance to come back. When he was talking his generic BS about "guys from other teams coming here who reac differently in games, than guys he drafts and teaches," I thought that was a reference to James also. One thing about Marvin that I have a huge problem with - is that he rarely accepts blame for anything, and says one thing, but does another. He also called out his assistant coaches for drafting the wrong players. BUSH.While Marvin may not know as much about a guy, as an assistant does, you STILL have to take responsibility for drafting him, period. He's YOUR assistant coach. Surely Marvin knows the major flaws in some of these guy's backgrounds. Don't throw your staff under the bus in public. These are classic examples of bad manager 101:Doing one thing and saying another, i.e., not following through on what you say or promise. Bad boss rule #1.Letting blame or failures roll downhill and blaming people under you, for your mistakes. You either believe in and stand by your people after 2-3 years, or you don't. Bad boss rule #2.I will take his quote near the end as a vow to not draft any noticeable troublesome players this year. I will try and take his word this time that he's thoroughly shick of taking so many chances, and will do what he says. But as Marv always says:"I see better than I hear."Sign a good FA Center or draft one on day one, let Smith go, sign Steinbach, keep Whitworth at tackle and develop him there as Willie's replacement (Willie and Levi's injuries will give him enough chances to get PT).Get a real LB or two in here who has a mean streak and isn't a drug addict, draft or sign a pass rushing specialist at DE, and get an offensive threat at TE who can also block adequately. That would be my interview. Kazkal
James was worried about his contract? he should know he'd be playing for a Vet min in 2007.as for Steinbach because of how the contract talks went before the season started...Steinbach had his chance and his agent blew the bengals off so they resigned willie...I agree about whitworth being replacement for willie but i still woulden't min d him as a guard 2-3 years...then find a mauler in 2008 or 2009. DC_Bengals_Fan
Guess what? everyones favorite LB is comin back! Assuming he *is* clean, and can *stay* clean, for the next 12 months until the end of the next season, when he had 4 failures in his first 15 months here? I'm not betting on it.
